Title: info on omegas
Post by: pazz on 07 January 2009, 12:58:43
Hello everyone , would like some info on new shape 2002 omega's.
2.2 , 2.5 , 2.6 what to steer clear of what to watch out for just pointers really , after seeing the ex-police car in black and how cheap they are and possibly needing a new car I'm now hunting around.

Many Thanks..

Matt

HI there -- best bet is to have a trawl around the forum -- pick up the do's and don'ts.  Lots depend on the spec you want and the price range you are looking at. If you find something you like the guys on here will always help out with opinions.  Ex Plod isn't always a good bet --- yes, they are regularly serviced etc -- but some of them are ...well ragged!

Engine bit is here:

In other respects the omega is the same as most other cars.

If you make sure you get one with a decent engine, the rest can be dealt with by the experts on here.

I drive Police Vehicles daily, downchanges are usually accompanied with the rev limiter, we had a few Astra DTIs which were bombproof and if not careful the rev counter would get round to 1 again. The maintenance, certainly of our force vehicles is a little lacking so I definately wouldn't buy one unless it was in mint condition and would still be sceptical of it. I'll stop there before I dig a big hole :-X
