Title: Aussie Fuel Prices...
Post by: tunnie on 10 January 2009, 10:56:58
Am i working this out right?

According to Shell AU the highest price is $1.10 for petrol, i am assuming thats the cost per litre out there?

$1.10 AU Dollars is £0.51 so thats about £2.31 per gallon? (4.54 litres to the gal)

I expect to do 650-750 miles out there, so even at 750 miles doing 25mpg that works out at £69 for total fuel costs?

Yesterday at Tesco I paid 82.9 per litre,so that is 82.9 x4.54 =£3.76 per gallon.

In that case I'am off to Austrailia .

I can get the sun for free. :-* :-* :-* :-*

Having missed the petrol station in Reading i had no choice but stop at south mimms services and paid 93.9p a litre (82.9 local too me) so not best return to a V6... ;D

Just specced one up myself and managed to get to AU$77,490. (added 19" wheels for that true gangster look  ;D)

Then noticed a small footnote "Pricing for alloy wheels excludes tyres."

WTF? Do they deliver it on bare rims??

I got back from three weeks in Oz at the beginning of December and the prices quoted are right, yes it is per litre. we booked our hire car 6 months in advance, ford falcon, supposed to be 4.0l, level and they gave us a poxy toyota camray but because we paid in advance it only cost us £400 for the three weeks. Eating out is cheap and the portions huge  :y
Pretty much all the cars out there are autos as well.

where about are you going Tunnie?
