Well I finally pick my car up tomorrow. The final labour bill for my car is £600 (which he bases on £35 per hour). I really would like to know how on earth he gets that changing the oil cooler, hbv, spark plugs, thermostat and putting a timinbg belt on takes over 17 hours. He claims that most of the work was removing the emulsified oil (chocolate, or sh!t as he calls it). Do I have a leg to stand on or do i just have to pay up? He has even said i will still have to flush it when i get it back a few times to get the last bits of chocolate out.
He has also had my car since the beginning of october and i've been getting it back "next week" for weeks!
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

If he's supplied the parts I dont think thats a bad price

Forgot to mention that i supplied all the parts.

Except for oil & filter and spark plugs.

um.. i wouldnt be happy at that... >:(

Forgot to mention that i supplied all the parts.
Then I would say half the price, £300 to £350

He originally said £400 and has now changed his mind to it being £600. I've already given him £200 of it. Can i do anything about it?

wait til he pops out on an errand, while his sidekick is holding the fort, pickup the car, and say "ill sort him out later" only later will be 3 months and half the amount.. ;D ;D

It's the time frame that get's me, my local guy is used to me wanting it back before he gets it, and is pretty good at doing that too.. ;D ;D ;D

You have a verbal contract but unless you have a witness it would be difficult to prove. I would go to citizens advice or trading standards and see what they say.
