Title: CDR500
Post by: stuart30 on 16 January 2009, 21:46:29
Admin ive posted here as its more a ""general question/advice/thoughts"" post as opposed direct question/answer.

The gorgeous black estate ive recently bought has a CDR500 fitted...how do these compare with other single din radio"s such as CCR600 or CCRT700.

Only ask as ive played about with it and pressed the Traffic master a few times and PHONE popped up on the MID display...i know there was a phone installed before the previous owner just wondering if the CDR500 runs the phone through speakers kinda plug and play type.

Any real benefits upgrading too the 600 or 700.

Will need a phone wired in at some point....any thoughts on the above.

Will it not be trafficmaster prompting you to phone and spend money on making it live again??

Dunno Hotel no idea.... :-[

The facelift never used too....although after pressing the TM a few times it would come up with license no. but no mention of it being expired. :-/

The 700 has a built in phone which I must admit seems a brilliant idea, you just pop your sim card in and use your steering wheel controls to make a call..

Was factory fitted in my previous mig - nice bit of kit- worked well plus you had 10 radio presets  :y
to retrofit, i believe you may need to fit a mic in the light cluster, in front of the sunroof controls

I have the trafficmaster thingy in mine, press the button and it asks me to phone a number and pay money, not really sure if that would be worthwhile for me.

as for the phone, nokia kits are simple and easy, have always worked well for me
