What's wrong with doing the work in the snow? Unless you've had the bonnet up all night then the engine bay will be clear, and all the heaving and swearing at the passenger side gasket will keep you warm...  ;D

Count yourself lucky fella, just melted the snow which had been here since before Xmas.  It only got up above freezing a couple of days ago, only during the day mind.  Before that the coldest I saw was -14C around the 7th Jan brrrrrrrr

Most of the schools I did were either north or West of Stornoway, oh and a few on North Uist. I must say I loved it over there, the people are something else ;)

Just had a look, some of these might have been on North Uist. Airidhantuim, Bernera, Carinish, Lionel, Lochmaddy (North Uist), Paible and Shawbost ;)

Everyone I met was really friendly ;) One thing I saw when I was there was an electrical shop and in the doorway it had a sign saying "we rent Bush". Made me laugh. I intend to have a trip up again but I will bring the wife this time ;)

airidhantuim (west side, just past barvas)
Bernera (out in the sticks on way to Uig)
Shawbost (the best of the lot)
Lionel (did you encounter mad mary in the kitchen?  :D)

cairinish and lochmaddy are both in north uist. my weekly trip there is hampered by sheep and single track roads  >:(

I may have done, is the kitchen door to the right of the main entrance as you look at the school from outside. If I remember correctly there was ongoing building work, I think it was a community centre they were building when I was there ;)
