Just a thought. I came across a Polish Omega site, 'www.bestiales.pl', and it looks very impressive. lots of graphics, pictures, and pull down menus. Lots of information ( found the wiring diagrams there), and the site looks very attractive. How about reworking our site in a similar fashion?. I don't know anything about the HTML programming involved, so I don't know how much work would be involved but it looks very good. Also if people were looking for a site to provide them with info about the Omega would they choose Vxon with its standard look, or a site like that?. OK, it has lots of photos, which maybe means extra storage for the server. I don't know how the storage is worked out but a 320G HD only costs about £60, and it would sure store a lot of photos and information. I wouldn't mind contributing a couple of quid toward the cost of extra storage.
Cheers Ken :)

I think that site is not that readable, and like most sites using it, the Google Adsense makes it messy. Black backgrounds always seem to reduce readability imho
However, since its inception, there have benn plans afoot to extend the site to more than just a forum...

Hi TB, thanks for the comments, No, I agree, lots about the Polish site are not ideal, but the ideas are nice. The click down banners to find different areas is easy on the eye, esp after a few pints!. And the technical side; the idea is nice but a bit limited in content. I think the thing is collecting and displaying information for the benefit of Omega owners, as they get some info, they may contribute more through their own experience, and thus the knowlege base will increase, helping everyone. For example, I am thinking about fitting LPG to my car. I managed to get a 2nd hand set of OMVL DREAM XXI type C kit for a very reasonable price. I now know why, there is virtually no info on the web about it. However in my travels, I managed to find sites with OMVL wiring diagrams, software, even a place where you can download the dreaded LPGA COP 11 rules. It would be nice if I could pass that on to someone else so could help them in their installation. Hey maybe I'm dreaming a bit, and I don't know the amount of work required, but I like the idea of the site being the best there is. :) :) :)

If you have useful info for fitting such systems that will be useful for other members, we would ask you post in under Maintenence Guides, or generic info on it could go under FAQ. I know you can't (currently) post in these areas, but you could post elsewhere and ask a mod to move.
With regards to certain info, we probably need to be a little more careful that old Eastern Bloc countries due to copyright. Being UK based and hosted, we are an easy target for copyright holders to shut us down should we infringe. Hence we do not tolerate posting of any copyright information.
As said, from the start there were plans to expand beyond just the forum, but for now we are concentrating just on that section. The forum will most likely be the most interactive part, and its the part we really do need to get right..

Most certainly....when you consider how young the site still is id say its spot on so far. :y :y

Site works well the way it is I think. It's easy to navigate on the whole and the lack of pictures means we don't wait ages for the thing to update. Less of an issue these days with most people apparently on broadband.
Hopefully the maintenance section will continue to expand (I'm sad enough to read about jobs people have done that I'll never attempt) - and that's the only area that I think could be organised slightly better to help people find the job they want to do more quickly (but perhaps that's just me being a bit impatient and slow to sift through stuff).

Problem is, as it's added to, I agree, it takes a bit of searching.
I don't think it could be sorted into sequence very easily.

Must agree I have been on other forum sites for other cars i've had and this is by far the best and freindliest site iv'e been on. I would leave well alone at the mo. If its not broke don't fix it. :y
Well maybe one small change. How about a picture of an estate at the top as well, you know just to show the whole range??? :y
