Title: Do people NOT understand?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 26 January 2009, 23:08:59
I have tried twice to sell my 4x4 on ebay.

First time, the guy won, then sent lots of texts promising to come and never did. Muppet.

Second time, guy won, came to collect, and then said it wasn't as described because there was rust in the wheel arches  (which was very clearly listed and was the reason the AD stated spares and repairs). He also said the ABS light was on (normal from first standing start on these, goes off once you move away) - but wouldn't take my explanation or let me prove it, insisted it was a "major fault that wasn't described".

He also picked up that there had been a TINY (and quite presentable IMO) repair to the front of the bonnet, and said I'd not included it in my ad.

Let's be fair - what do people expect when something is approaching 20 years old and is advertised as "spares and repairs"?

I really, really hate ever having to deal with cars... and I hate EBAY even more, I'm not sure I'll use it for that purpose again  :'(

I reckon anyone handy with a welder would have her tip top in no time but unfortunately it's not my area, otherwise I would NOT be letting it go, I love it..

It is a reluctant sale and I really hesitated to put it up - I have never enjoyed a car as much as these beasts, they are ace :y

Don't get me wrong, I accept that when viewing a car a buyer will pick up on every niggle the previous owner probably totally forgot about - I know I have done, and that's acceptable - but the two chaps mentioned above are unrealistic.

For a man of your integrity Daz ( :D ) I'm sure we could reach something suitable - purely on the basis I know you won't mess me around  :y  :y

I would put that viewing is recommended but if you decide to bid without viewing then a £50 deposit is required at the end of the auction.

That's the one

In all honesty finding a decent classic Rangey as presentable as this one is quite a task alone. I've having seen pictures of others on various forums, it really wouldn't take much for someone in the know to do the bits and peices on this one and make it tip top.

I just think potential buyers expect it to have just come off the showroom, even when sold for spares  ;D

Always wanted a v8 range rover just never had the money when 1 comes up for sale...My 1st boss used to have a six wheeled double crew cab pick special we used it to pull the trailer back and forth to brum rag market and other daily chores...he even had the bodywork completly replaced at 1 stage with fibre glass bodywork as it was rusting away...fantastic wagon.... ;D

They really are great busses! Mine was a 1989 3.5 running on LPG and was fantastic :y :y :y

Many times it would just soldier on when modern cars were dropping by the wayside, and it even pulled trees out of the road when required :y :y :y
