Popped out with the missus after our tea last night about 7ish, Mobile went about half an hour later, the neighbour to say the alarm was going off and someone had tried to bust the patio door in.
Thankfully they seem to have legged it when the alarm started!
Lucky for me I only installed the alarm 2 weeks ago after not being bothered for 15 years! No real damage but the Missus is flapping big time and now wants to move.
Apparently they knock on the door and if no answer they have a crack at the house, two more were attempted nearby, sadly one was succesfully burgled.
Anyone for a lynching party ? BTW I recommend the Friedland wireless alarm system from B&Q, does the job for £200.

Sorry to hear that bud, glad they didn't get in. Yeah I had to have my shed done over before I got an alarm. I also got a dialer installed which phones you when the alarm goes off!
Hope your missus calms down, end of the day it can happen anywhere you move to!!

What sort of range has this system got? The shed's about 10 or 15 metres away from the back door...
I've vaguely thought about sorting out an alarm system, but not got around to it...

Oh, and indeed I'm up for a lynching! B@stards!

I live in a nice area.
but a couple of months ago at lunch time a heard a moise and thought it was just my neighber banging the door open as the door swells in cold weather.
That night there was a knock on the door and the Police asking if I could help as my neighbers door had been forced whilst he was at work.
It can happen any where anytime.

Wireless alrams are a right load of old bollecks.....only advantage is fast install.
They are very easy to get round and jam if you have any clue about what you are doing.
And for less money you can get a good wired setup......more involved install but a MUCH more superior and reliable setup.

I thought that might be the case... So much for short cuts...

I use this supplier at the moment.

The Texecom stuff is ok, and the Excel kit is reasonable.

Looks like their prices are good too... :) :)

find the thieving gits and give thema good smacking
ive got 8 cameras round my house
there all conected to a computer i built up running on win 2000
the program i use is pico 2000
it gives 24/7 survallance and only records when there is any movement if connected to some good cameras at night is just as clear
yeah its in black and white at night but you can see everything perfect
coppers love me for it as ive got half my street on the camera's. if anything happens they come knocking my down asking for video footage of a sertain time
bit of a pain but 2 secs to burn a few minute video footage onto a disc dont really bother me :y

Blimey... I'd struggle to get more than two cameras positioned around our place...

ive got 3 on the roof under the guttering at the front covering the drive
there's 1 under the porch to cover the front door
there's 2 at the side of the house on the roof under the guttering to cover the whole of the side of the house
there's 2 on the back of the house on the roof covering the back garden and the back door of the house
no blind spots youve gotta get past the cameras to hide under them
they cover my drive and most of the street so no hiding ive got you on camera before you get to the house
great for when i see my mom coming up the street i can grab the kids turn everything off and hide in the back room and watch the cameras and wait till she has gone to go back in the front room and put the telly back on
-
any upvc patio door lock or front door you can get in within 10-30 seconds without any force or damage. ive had to do it a few times for lockouts. top and bottom locks are more important on patios than main lock in my opinion
-
when we close our front door and lift the handle ther is a great big bolt that comes up out the top and 1 at the bottom of the door and about 4 hooks 2 at the top half and 2 at the bottom half come out the side of the door plus there is the extra lock when you turn the key
plus we got extra bolts on the door

These are BT8x8 based cards, a bit of a pain to set up but work ok. I have 2 of these running 7 cameras through i-Catcher Console, great bit of software but no support for these cards.

maplin have got sum out door cam's about £25 each and are spot on
if you have the card from hk its the same as what ive got ive got 2 in my computer
when you install the program its in hk language and on the disc there is a english language file
when and if you get the card from hk take your time and right everything down on the notepad file on the disc or else you will mess it all up
but once its done its spot on
not sure how to send a video file to you so you can see what its like at night 25frames a sec is very close to real time
