Title: Omega odometers analogoue not digital?
Post by: joshwyatt on 06 February 2009, 19:26:09
I've always wondered why the Omega's, particularly the facelifts have the rolling anologue counter as opposed to a digital one? Astra G's and Vectra B's of the same time perioid had digital one's. You'd think that on the flagship model it'd have something as simple as a digital odomoter.
And not meaning to sound patronising, but if anyone doesn't know what an odometer is...simply it is the mileometer.

I wondered the same myself. I guess as the Omega came out around '94, they weren't so common and as the years went by GM thought 'if it isn't broke don't fix it'.

Vectra B didn't come along until Nov '95.

Neither are 'clocking proof' The Astra G's is even 'correctable' via a Cheapo Tech II and a suitable laptop (at least a 16v is)

You can do mileage 'correction' on most of the VX digital odometers with the Opelscanner I have, though some of the dashboard ecu's log the fact a change was made.

Which is why it's included on all the MOT's that you'll get handed to you in a nice leather look wallet when you buy your 'new' car .....
The odometer reading should just be used as a guide/bargaining point!  :y  :y  :y
