3" freshly fallen here in Snowdonia this afternoon; tomorrow p.m is forecast for a "Winter Storm"......batten down the hatches everyone and prepare for more "chaos" (the BBC`s favourite word).

We are having a slight peppering now after 3 days of warm sunshine.

And my dear god is the Meega utterly crap on ice or what?  I had to turn round in an icy carpark today and was glad I had a shovel and some friends with me :o

I made a huge mistake a few months ago and bought 10 times the amount of salt i needed for something (NOT on ebay).  The neighbours are very grateful.., it seems domestic salt is pretty good at keeping our paths clear of ice and snow lol.

Can't help laughing tho, maybe I should donate it to the highway services who say they managed to use 3 weeks of salt in 3 days (their maths must be as bad as mine) :P

I still have one of the plastic salt shakers from my chippy days.  I allways keep a kilo bag of cooking salt in the kitchen.  If there is ice about I just fill the shker up and sprinkle it on the paths.

We haven't had much snow in Plymouth just a sprinkling but I have been out all week in north devon/cornwall recovering cars that have been stuck in the snow. One bloke said that he was due to turn off the junction before but instead carried on to have a look how deep the snow was. 6 hourws later and a written off M3 I think he is wishing he just went straight home :y
