Two new tyres which I expected and all is well :)
One point of advise, slight leak from exhaust manifold. What might that involve?

Turning up the stereo ;D

On a serious note, I wouldn't be overly concerned, if it's minor. I've always had a small leak from mine without an issue. The only main concern is that a leak near the front of the exhaust can balls up the lambda readings and cause emissions to become higher
what were your emissions result, you should have got a printout.
Is yours a V6? Which manifold is meant to be blowing?
They are a pain, but do-able if you're competent. Expensive in a garage mind...
Always use the metal multi-layer gasket, not the compound pattern crap... new studs/nuts don't hurt either, and make sure surfaces are flat..

Ooo looking at your profile, it's a 2.0.
Exhaust manifold (and equally inlet manifold) is a peice of cake....
-
Congrats on the pass, least the manifold is not on a v6 :y
-
Result on the pass :y
-
Yes, only a little'un.
Printout at home, I'll post the results later. As I remember, everything was way under the max limit, except the Lambda...
Its going to need a center pipe and back box soon, may just get my local to fix the manifold at the same time, unless its really an easy job.
Anyway, chuffed with the pass. Was thinking of changing it for an S type this year. Took the parents out over Christmas. Sat in the back, Mother slept all the way there and all the way back. Father complemented on the space in the back, smooth and quiet ride.
I like it so why swap it just yet.

Congrats on the pass :y
If you gonna have ago yourself at the manifold allow yourself a dry day and alot swearing although quite easy in comparison to the V6 it can be a right knuckle muncher of a job.
Had ago at mine about a month or so ago shall see if I can find the thread as it may prove useful.

LOL ;D ;D
Well done on getting it passed Mike :y

I have plenty of pics of my 2.0 in bits, head off, etc, inc the manifold,
I'll post pics tonight..

Hi there
Here is the thread I started when I did mine maybe worth a look if only to give you some Idea of what needs doing :)

Good Luck if you decide to do it yourself :y

Cheers guys, I'll have a read and look forward to the pics. Problem on getting a dry day lately!
May just be tempted to give it a go.
-
If the middle and tail sections need replacing, very seriously consider genuine parts (try to get on Trade Club) - similar price (with TC) and hugely better than pattern parts...

Pics would be nice, seriously tempted to have a go.
Emissions results :-
RPM (1/min) ???? Min = 2500, MAX = 3000, ACTUAL = 2633
CO (%/vol) MAX = 0.2, ACTUAL = 0.027
HC (ppm vol) MAX = 200, ACTUAL = 24
LAMBDA MIN = MIN = 0.97, MAX = 1.03, ACTUAL = 1.01
Looking at the min and max for the Lambda, suppose its not too bad.
What is the units of the lambda test / what is it??
-
Congrats m8 :y

Lambda is a ratio, which shows how rich or lean the engine is running - ideal is one (the stochiometric ratio of fuel to air - 14.6ish to one iirc, but we could look it up....), so yours is ok, (and very nearly spot on).
-
Might just leave it alone then!
Thanks for the info.

I have had this link for some time it may prove useful, I believe the creator is a member on here.

It shows the process of a headgasket change on a 2.0 picture 32 shows the manifold removed with the cat still in place.
Should give you some Ideas of whats involved.
Good Luck if you do it.
Hope this helps :y
