Just watching a repeat of Top Gear - the Alfa one - and am having an uncontrollable laughing fit due to hammond constantly driving up the back of May.
Now this is very childish. But bloody funny!

Easy, it's called a TV licence.

the 3 or 4 grands worth they destroy is nothing compared to the production costs of just making a normal programme.

How much did it cost them to do the Botswana episode? The Vietnam episode? The North Pole episode? To name but three..........!!

I imagine the Pole one was expensive. The others probably not that much more than any other OB

The way they drive into James May's car always tickles me as well.
If i was lucky enough to be there i'd slam into Clarksons all the time just to show him he's not above such antics himself. Not that i'm confrontational or anything!!!!!!!! ::)

Top Gear is one of the shows which actually makes the BBC some money. All of the merchandising, DVD's, magazines etc. Plus it, or the shows copyright format is sold or shown worldwide. The excellent documentaries by Attenborough are the same but cost much more to make, in some cases, like Life in the Freezer, 2 years or more. If it weren't for the repeats I wouldn't need a TV!!!!!!!!!

I think they sold it to my brother for £560 for his daughter to(wreck )drive, only joking ::) ::) ::)

its the childishness that makes it imho. The best programme on tv. For me Bbc s programmes fill my faves list. China, secret life of elephants, coast, oceons all brilliant.
Also the bottom of the list with all that soap crap. Casualty, holby and as for eastspackers ffs...

Cant fault you. A lot better than 5th Gear, allthough the latest series is better than the last one.

whilst we pay for in licence fees, dont forget it is sold to to foreign networks and the likes of Dave as well so i would imagine that recoups some of the cost....
Still good value

Dave was UK Gold 2 iirc, thus half owned by BBC Worldwide. Wonder how much they pay for it ;)
So, as an Alfa man, how do you feel about the episode that started this thread - the alfa one where hammond kept running up back of may whilst being towed?

Hammond was a numpty for buying a crapper, May had a really nice GTV, JC had a cracking 75V6 (have met the owner at National Alfa day) and he trashed it..
I actually think it showed how well they are built, especially the modern stuff, Hammond must have hit May at least 10 times and the back end didn't look distorted at all.
However some of the hardcore Alfisiti were baying for their blood, it was good TV
