Post by: mars on 19 February 2009, 20:02:25
Saw someone pulled by an unmarked police car on M6 between coventry and Birmingham. It was a black Ford Focus, 5 door but quite sporty looking :-?

They use allsorts these days.

Last I heard, South Yorkshire were using Evo's, Scoobys and T5's all unmarked.

Don't know if any of you are familier with the Merry Hill shopping centre but the boy racers loved it round there, even been a few killed hitting stuff too. Recently they've fittind speed bumps and gates to lock it off which has stopped them but the local plod had an evo7 and an ST focus to catch the chav's. They've made a fortune in fines LOL

In kent they are using Skoda Octavia VRS's, plod told me they go well but they are tooooo low. They have to slow down far to much for the speed ramps  as they have had a few with the sumps ripped off.

The chavs know this and so head straight for the calmed areas.

I Saw an unmarked vectra yesterday on the A1 going north who then pulled onto the M25.

Thing is he was driving like a compleate *%$*£* Right up peoples backsides, then cut across three lanes of traffic to get off just before the hatchings, no lights no siren!!!!!

Agree with all the findings they will drive anything to catch the motorist easy meat bit like the Bears and the Salmon on the telly, no I didn't mean the Bears dress like salmon either (shame the p**s did n't have to starve for 10 months of the year to get a catch though). I think its a bit naughty unmarked police cars driving like reps what's the world comming to?

About 8 or 10 years ago the police around Sunbury-on-Thames were using an only y-reg Porsche as an unmarked... Looked a right state but was very effective in catching the boy racers who used to charge about :y :y :y

About 6 or 7 years ago, when I was working recovery for Hampshire police, I was told that the adjoining forces would often swap unmarked cars to keep them anonymous   :o :o At the time Hants Police had a red Subaru Impretza WRX and they hated it... Said it was the most uncomfortable car they had ever used! They were always grateful when it went for service because if it needed anything other than standard service items it would be off the road for weeks waiting for parts to come in ::) ::) ;) ;)

On a slightly different note, I saw on one of the road wars/plolice chase progs that one force is using unmarked sports motorbikes now to catch bikers in the country side.  So they are using all means possible to catch motorists these days.

TBH I think this is great... As long as they are catching the hardened offenders and not picking up Joe Bloggs for every small infringement (like a blown bulb).

The roads are full of complete idiots who drive like they are invincible and get away with it. My sister-in-law got done for no insurance a couple of years back, a genuine mistake as both her and her husband thought the other had done it! She was actually covered under a traders policy too but the police wouldn't accept that as it was only presented after the event ::) ::)

Lesson learnt... She now deals with all her own documentation and ensures she carries it with her :y :y :y

I agree, the sad thing is though you then get a certain ammount of narrow minded motor cyclists who then go take it upon them selves to take the pee through the front facing speed cameras and specs cameras just to brag what they can get away with  as the cameras dont get thier reg numbers.

It won't last forever... I must confess when the front facing cameras first came out I would take great pleasure in "flicking the bird" as I passed through them at a higher speed than posted but then I grew up ::) ::) ::)

Speed limits are in place for a reason. Yes, all of us break these limits at some point, and most of us are honest enough to admit it! But, I do not speed in built up areas... Full stop! Clear country roads and motorways are different but towns are just not  the place to do it :y :y
