Title: My Dad was rushed in at 8 pm last night
Post by: Christian on 16 February 2009, 10:59:06
My Dads had a Stroke and he has usual Symtons of half his body  as gone mad!

Right of Face dropped, cannot talk clearly and is very slow, cannot walk properly.

Phoned teh Ambulance last nightat 7.30 and was in Hospital , We waited until 4 am and thats when the doctor to see him, and evan at this time he's still in teh Corridor in a bed in front of the Public.

Not one person checked his blood or did any tests apart from an ecg on the Ambulance.

He could of died and he's still ill but The NHS are usless,my mrs works there anyway but the way you get treated and put behind in the cue if some PIsshead as come in because they have been fighting its just makes you sick.

So my Moral to this Rant id about the Advert on the TV saying " phone 999 be quick and all that crap yet hes been lying on a bed in a cold corridor for 15 Hours now with no real tests  >:(
Rant over and i just hope my Dad pulls through this  :'(

Hes been deprest since he got made Redundant from a job he made Sucsesfull 30 years back and all he did was live for work.

Ever since then they Paid him off but he still aint got enough to pay the Morgage and he stresses over this so much it made him ill, We think its all been brought on through him loosing is job and being made feel like a Dole Dosser through Job centeres when hes worked damn hard all is life.

We are very upset with the NHS But what is there that can be done when there aint any beds?

IMHO the whole world and resesion has gone into a mess and with all th eyears of Tax we have all paid and you get chucked out in a cold corridor all bloody night with a stroke!

Rant over and going back to the Hospital now as ive been home to have 3 hrs sleep!

Another NHS disaster!

I hope he recovers well.

I have the funeral of my cousin this week who passed away following a brain hemorrhage last week. We are having a collection to-wards paying for the 'essential' kit they use at the Oxford hospital because the NHS wont pay for such items!

My sympathies Mark... Went through it all a couple of weeks ago with my cousin.

Luckily it wasn't the NHS who let him down... Just society and people in general many years ago :( :(

Sorry to hear about your Dad,my dad had a stroke a few years ago, just after my mum died,ge was treated exactly the same way as your dad, left on a trolly in a corridor all night, worked all his life until retirement, paid his taxes and in his hour of need was let down very badly ,and perhaps the worst thing was they insisted despite protests from him that he spent his recuperation period of several weeks on the same ward that my mum died in.>:( >:( >:(
Good news is that despite the fact that he is 77,he is doing really well now and the only after effects seem to be a bit of weakness in his right side and his short term memory isnt great. So hopefully your dad will be reasonably ok,it just takes time. :y

Yea i guess, tho its difficult tonight, its his first night alone, i dont trust Hospitals tho Louise my other half is on the Ward next to him as she works there as a Nurse.

But i feel at night if he got bad and he couldnt move because of the Stroke he wouldnt beable to do anything.

Its a worry for me and my Mom, but ive made my Mom stay at home because she aint Fit herself with Diebeties and Heart Desiese, so i needed her to rest and take her Meds because today she looked Ill.

Thanks for all the Lovely comments though  :)

Typical stupid NHS comment that one.....

They have a staffed MRI machine which is paid for and man'ed.

It should be little more than getting a slot.

If it was me, I would have them running 24 hours (minus service time) because the kit is by far the most expensive part and such assets needed to be sweated to make the most of them.

Just remember, this free health service accounts for 20% of government spend and on average we pay out 50% of our income to the tax man (council tax, vat, road tax, fuel tax, income tax, NI etc etc etc).....hence the free health service costs you 10% of your total earnings

I agree with Mark, a friend of mine has been attending the eye hospital for years, can't remember the name of what's wrong with him.

Anyway, they decided he needed laser treatment, to correct a deformity that was getting worse.

How long will I have to wait he asks, about 3 months, we have to book a slot, says the specialist.

Would it be quicker if I paid? asks my mate.

I could fit you in tomorrow morning, says the specialist.

Same hospital, same equipment, same specialist.

It took all of 5 minutes, and £600!

Sorry, to distract from your troubles, I hope your dad will be OK.

This is the root of a lot of what is wrong in NHS hospitals ...... They pay the consultants a full time wage and they spend half of the working day doing private work (effectively being paid twice ) and the other half on the golf course while students cover for them !!!!!

Would any other worker get away with that ????  I think not.

When I worked in the theatres we would often start a shift cleaning up eqiupment (NHS gear) that had been used "privately". And NHS nurses and ancillairy staff would attend private ops during the normal working day .... surgeon and aneasthetist getting a huge wedge and the rest of us just getting extra work to do !!!!!

Better stop now before I go into full rant mode  >:(

Christian ...... I hope the results give good news, mate. :y

With the national campaign on at the moment about how quickly the reactions should be to stroke victims I'd be shaming the hospital concerned Nationally! >:( >:( >:(

Make sure you get the information to complain to the hospital board too!

Hope the test results are bringing good news today :y :y :y

Very true -- good timing for a complaint I would think. Lord knows how much this campaign has cost --- in reality the money would have been better spent getting the services provided up to scratch .... bl**dy pointless telling the world to get to hospital quickly and then not having the resource to deal with it!!!!!!!

He's home noe, the Results have to be sent to a brain specialist, they dont think its too serious.

But at least he's back at home with my Mom so he can relax in front of the Telly :)

He better take it easy, he has a constand painfull headache tho at the rear of his head, doctors say keep taking paracetamol but this is proberbly part of the problem.

Gunna lend him the DS tomo to get some brain training in because hes forgotton a few things like how to wash his hair and drive the Zaffy.

Its quite bloody worrying actually, i do hope he gets his thought back!
