bought my 2nd omega last month, 2000 elite 2.5 v6. 77k on clock, but no service history. i want to get the cam belt changed for peace of mind. heres my questions folks...
1. how much will this cost (roughly) if i go to my local vauxhall dealership?
2. is it just the belt that would need changed?
3. how often should i have the belt changed?
4. how long will the job take?
5. anything else i need to know?
Thanks in advance for any help!! :y :y

You need to get a cambelt kit which will include the tensioners, oh and have the water pump done at the same time ;)
Change times are 40,000 miles or 4 years which ever occurs first

Bend over...
2. is it just the belt that would need changed?
Nope - you need to change the entire timing belt kit, which consists of tensioner backplate , tensioner, top idler, lower idler, belt. While in there, also do the aux belt and water pump.
3. how often should i have the belt changed?
40,000 miles or 4 years - whichever is sooner
4. how long will the job take?
A competent person, around 2.5 hours. If doing first time DIY, set a leisurely day / weekend aside
5. anything else i need to know?
Whoever does the job, make sure they use the Vauxhall V6 Specific setting kit.

Get it done properly, don't cut corners to save money!
It will be cheaper than a major engine repair!
