Title: hmmmm ....
Post by: sounds2k on 24 January 2007, 22:48:48
... do I smell a rat?

manual estate listed here (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&hassearched=Y&make=VAUXHALL&min_pr=75&source=0&model=OMEGA&max_pr=&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1&trim=&keywords=&postcode=+BS24+9NR&ukcarsearch_full.x=31&ukcarsearch_full.y=8&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH) on autotrader - only it says (and vehicle license website confirms) that it's a 2.5V6. The single exhaust would appear to confirm this. But the engine bay shows the extended plenum - AFAIK only fitted to the 3.0 and 2.6/3.2's (the latter two of which can be ruled out as it's got an accelerator cable and EGR), plus the tailgate says 3.0V6 ... ???

something odd there, as you say badged 3.0.

Like you AFAIK the extended Plenum was only fitted to the engines u said....  :-/

This would be the first 2.5 i have seen, with extended plenum

Perhaps it is a real 3.0 V6 and the plates have been changed for some reason.  :-/

Well it's badged as 3.0L and the engine looks like 3.0L, so I'ld say it's a 3.0L... poss the seller is a trader that has too many cars and got the text and pictures mixed-up...

Claims to be ex-demo & 1 private owner - but DVLA has it unlicensed and tax due Oct 06.  Perhaps Mr Private Owner slipped in a 3.0 and didn't tell DVLA  :-?

well it appears that one of the badges off the boot fell off, the one above "3.0 V6" that reads "WANNABE"  ;D

... so it's either had an engine change (in which case was the gearbox done as well?) or someone's changed a few badges and the plenum (presumably it's possible to retro-fit the extended plenum to the 2.5 block) ... if you enter the registration number off the tailgate into the DVLA site, it shows its' engine size as 2498cc ...  ::)

I understand the badge change thing for show but why the plenum? I don't see the benefit  :-?

IIRC M-Tek were asking on here for anyone with a long plenium 2.5 so they could have a fiddle, from that i'd assume they made some  :)
