Title: irmscher sports stars 8x18 ET30
Post by: feeutfo on 08 March 2009, 04:43:24
8x18 ET30 size i presume. No idea what i am doing with wheels. never bought any before. What does et30 mean? Got a chance of a set of sport stars, they are recommended fitment, according to the bloke selling.

May be a set of 17inch elite 03 wheels going soon... with 5k old tires. :y

ET is short for Einpresstiefe (rough translation is insertion depth) and it's the value of the offset in mm. ET30 is 30mm positive centre I.E. 30mm towards the outer edge. For a rear wheel drive you want as low (or negative) as possible ET. HTH. :y

Er, so they are 8 inchs wide , where the originals are
7 and on top of that the tread is 30 mill nearer to the outside of the car. So giving a 60 mill wider wheel base/track overall..?

The wheels are an inch (25mm) wider so half each side makes 25mm overall. ET 30 is positive so it'll make it 30mm narrower track, so 60mm overall narower minus the 25mm = 45mm narrower. Try the calculator, it does all the math for you ;) :y

its raining so ill do both offsets rather than go look

if my offset is 35      then stars should give 8mm less inboard and
                                                             18mm more outboard

if my offset is 45   then stars should give 2mm more  inboard and
                                                             28mm more outboard

unless i am being thick again

18"Sport Stars are the creme de creme wheels for Miggys. Irmscher designed them for Omega's they feature in my original Omega showroom brochure.I've just managed to get a set after trying for the best part of 2 yrs there was even a 9"J pair option as a rear axle option.Chris grab them.Perfection. :y :y

LOL Just the wheels.

I'm afraid I'm not a lover of the look of facelift cars, bonnet, pale/bright tail lights and not very durable interior finish.  ::)  ::)

It is only one less spoke but i do see your point. And yes you have to be carefull with the tactile finish. But have you got the elbow bubble in the centre arm rest and bits of foam falling out? Banana seats?

After 140k they where more like hammocks than seats. Not yellow though.  ;) ;D

Anyway, which of the two. Stars or flakes?

Its all in what we like, can I tell you this.Had 2 Miggi's Mv6, and Elite. Mv6 was written off, guess which wheels was on the mv6 when it went on the low loader, the Elite ones. Still have the mv6 wheels their mint as I had them restored by The Wheel Specialists their the original mv6 17" 5 flat spoke design, and still look ace, decidedly different to these latest  spindly spokey designs, again beauty is in the eye of the beholder, am undecided whether to keep them as a spare set, or sell them on.Again Brian at my local The Wheel Specialists, put the Sport Star wheels/Omega design in context. I quote "They match in with the cars flanks" :y
