Title: Car Prices Falling?
Post by: 2am Omega on 11 March 2009, 13:06:40
Second hand car prices seem to be falling further. See the Parkers website ..

http://www.parkers.co.uk/choose/Wizard.aspx

Enter your car Registration Number in the bottom section then click for Private Sale or Part Exchange. Do you believe these estimates are realistic? Valuations for Omegas seem particularly low.

Mine was valued at £1000 and I paid just over a grande for it 6 months ago so mine has hardly fallen in price in 6 months - tho' have spent well over £200 servicing it.

Really its what the cars worth to you...if its MOT'd now then you may as well use it...what repairs does it need...if your gonna spend hundreds on the car then its a choice of getting another that may or may not need work (buying second hands a lottery) or spending the money on the one you have which you know a little already...

Seems to me the overriding rule as with most consumable products that are not essential e.g. miggy or pug or ford and are a matter of choice is 'what is it worth to you'.
That's a complex decision that is arrived at differently by each person e.g. size, equipment, depreciation, economy, style and image.
I really think my mig looks great it has loads of space that I use, I use and value many of it's 'toys' and although it comes with it's own occasional mechanical problems, with the help of this fantastic resource (yes you lot) I think it's the best value car I have ever owned.

Not really. My meriva came back at £3500, but when I did a full check, on the same site, with the correct mileage, it came back £500 less.

My 1994 Elite 3.0L v6 came up as £205...!!
One third of what I paid...

Remember though everyone that this is a "wizard" software, possibly triggered by registration year...

In no way can it take into account the condition of the cars...!!

So dont give it too much credit...

I was offered £1100 for my '03 plate Frontera 3.2 Limited a couple of weeks back.

Doesnt recognise the Elite, used to have a private plate on it, wonder if thats why.

V6 GLS comes up as a TD GLS, but again that used to have a private plate on it also.

£1600 PX, £2000 Private for mine (no adjustment for miles or excell. condition). Touted it on here for £2100 a few weeks back. Still available but now trying a friends forecourt with mark-up. Not bothering with A*T*R etc,.
