Post by: tallandy on 19 March 2009, 21:38:21
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere i cant see any threads on it.

What sort of average fuel consumption can you expect to get from the 3.0 auto. i dont do much town driving but am off to keswick for the weekend bout 250 mile trip mainly motorway and A rd stuff be good to know what most of you get out of yours. I,ll be doing 75ish or so nothing to much over the limit.
Ta in advance :)

My 2.5 V6 CDX auto will manage between 33- 35 MPG if I set the crusie control to 70 MPH or slightly over. The 3.0 shouldn't be too much worse.

If you can keep it between 50 and 60 MPH it will even manage 40 MPG or more, but it gets boring.

Once you get over 75 the fuel consumption gets steadily heavier, and when you get properly into three figures it gets expensive at around 20 - 22 MPG.

Not that I would condone speeding on the public highway of course.  :o

As an average over a 1900 trip to south of france (the one time it didn't break down ;D), I averaged 32mpg from my 3.0l auto, 85mph on the toll roads (maybe a bit of occasional playing ::)), and the 'town' type driving for the 10 days I was there...

Not to bad at all then i had a rover 75 2.0 diesel used to get about 45/48 on a run doing 75ish so losing 10/12 miles aint bad at all specially when you take into account petrols bout 50/60p a gallon cheaper so brings it down to 6/8 miles worse off i,ll just not drive it round town lol used to get low 30,s out the rover

As soon as you take a 3.0 auto off the motorways into the towns, mpg plummets.  Day to day, I get 23.5 currently from mine (about 1mpg down from normal, so I slapped on a new air filter yesterday).
