Post by: omegav6est on 23 March 2009, 18:31:26
hi all
is it just me or is owning an omega estate boring.dont get me wrong i love my omega its a p plate 2.5 v6 and its been ultra reliable, its a cdx so its got lots of goodies which iv always hankered after in  previous cars.i love the ride and the comfort i love the looks and the power of the v6 and the load space but i just find it boring and i dont know why.its got a few scabby bits but everything works so why do i find owning her boring.maybe its cos its silver! maybe its cos its reliable! i was even thinking of swapping it for a similar spec saloon, i just cant put my finger on it anyone else feel the same?

I wouldnt have thought any Omega was ""exciting""....a sports car would be exciting...a High performance bike would be exciting....jumping out of a plane would be exciting.....driving an Omega not exciting. ;D

Saying that i love my 2.5 Estate...well apart from the fact its a flaming manual.

on the other side

saloons do look better going sideways round a island than what a estate would :y

I had a few Miggy Estates now, I use the Black 2.5td CD Estate for work, and my current baby 3.0 MV6 FL Estate (Manual) for running arround in, I dont find that boring!, in fact most people that get in are quite impressed with MV6.

Ive got a few mates that drive Porsche and Audi RS4 to name a few and go on and on about them, so if I get really bored then I take them out in my Sapphire Cosworth (310 Bhp RWD) that normally shuts them up.  :y

i accept your comments, tho disagree with the sportscar jumping out of a plane bit. i dont expect driving an omega estate to be exciting just a bit more....less boring.as i said i love the car dont much like the colour and leather would be nice but hey it is what it is.i only bought it cos it was cheap and i liked the look of it. i even thought about spraying it or lowering it and fitting big wheels but went off that idea tho it has got twin cherries on the rear which makes it sound nice, not loud just a nice burble and anyway its got factory 16's on it already and as for swapping it if i did it would be for a v6 mig saloon nothing else but i dont know if thats the way to go anyway.maybe i'll go on a bit of a road trip might get to like more it than

An Omega Estate is useful
It can carry a lot more than a Volvo V70 & is an excellent workhorse

Stick it in 2nd with the sports mode selected, then drive it properly and tell me it's boring ???

I've surprised quite a few "we hate auto" folks with exactly how quick a 2-tonne car can be with an auto box .. and what is good is to then, having got to 80 far faster then they realise, flick it to 4th, sports mode off, crusie control in .. and .......

relax .. :)

Why waste energy wiggling a gear-stick about & bending your left leg when some kind German has gone to the trouble of designing you a gearbox that does away with the need?? :)

I prefer mine to my dead ford Granada,
2.5 V6 with manual gear box I had good fun cruising to W-S-M yesterday and the drive back was a nice as I shot past a prat in a TT :y
The best thing about the estates is no-one expects them to shift like they do, good fun as a sleeper, few boy racers have seen my v6 badge as I left them standing  ;D

I've had 3 estates for the practicality of them, although prefer the look of a facelift saloon.
Dullish to look at maybe, but fast, comfortable and a bit of a Q car even with the badges on!  ;)
Defo need V6 power though.
