I got intimate with a 94 civic a couple of weeks ago.
Crashed into the back of me. Civic was written off, the polish finish on my bumper was slightly scuffed, came of easy :y
-
shit sorry to hear..bet the polo came off worse though...
-
what an idiot!!!!
Its times like that you wish you were driving a old yank humvee or better a chally 2!
Hope everyone is ok though.......... :P

Get on to loo-knee.
Top bloke will sort out all your woes! (oh and omega panels.....)

NCD is protected.
Company car is just to bland!
-

NCD may be protected, but your risk has probably jumped with 2 in 2yrs, so you'll likely take a hell of a hit on next renewal :'(
-
you could just say that she reversed into you. :-X ::) :)
-
Bugger, sorry to hear that.
At least everyone is OK.

Thats what you told me before when my estate hit a car park wall...couldnt see it at the time as i was protected.
You was of course right..... >:( ;D ;D
-
1) There are some facelift spares in your garage - wings, bumper, headlamps, bonnet.
2) Sounds very repairable with S/H panels - remember my 2.6 prang last year, a cash in hand job - couple of hundred with couple of hundred for panels.
3) 2 accidents in 3 years (I remember the 3.0 ex Police writeoff) insurance will be painfull.
-
bugger!
Must have been some impact, i reversed in a brand spankers VW Passat at 0-10mph, i did 2.5k worth of damage to his car.
Not a scratch on my facelift :D ;D
-
ohh if its your facelift, and you buy it buy for spares, first dibs on the passenger door!
-
Sorry to here that mate, :'( :'( as long as everyone`s ok. :y I remember my only bump in me old Carlton 24v - right in the middle of the Tyne Bridge, n/s wing headlight and bonnet. The only thing that brightened that day up was the fact i totally concertina`d a new MX5 Roadster driven by this guy`s *&$ehole of a son in front of me!! :y
-
Sorry to here that hope all are ok. If there is anything i can do to help just let me know ....only up the road so no prob :y
-
Bad news Mark at least your OK. How many Omega's is it you have managed to kill off ::)

MDTM has to go through insurance, as there is also a Polo with Mark's car on the back seat to consider
-
Yep....shame, 4 new tyres, new exhaust, new shocks....
-
Bad luck :(
Marks Dtm sorry to hear this.. :(
Rule is :cars are repairable, you are not.. Nothing happened to you this is important..
Other than that you will loose unnecesary time and money and will be upset ..
But I'm sure you will find the necessary parts to repair your car cheaply..
ps : wednesday morning I was very close to crash a woman driver who suddenly decided to stop in the middle of 3 lanes and turn left..
I couldnt stop as I was really fast, to my luck right lane behind me was empty and I could escape ..but ABS had hard working time.. :-/
-
Yep....shame, 4 new tyres, new exhaust, new shocks....
shame they are not 235/45/17 ;D
Jeez, the vultures are gathering ;D
-
You should have aimed for the hole in the middle of the polo ::) :D
-
question is : from which grocery store she got the license >:(
-
Sorry to hear about the bump Mark.
Did the same thing years ago in my then-girlfriends custard yellow Austin Metro HLE......although in my case it was half intentional cos rather hell i hated that car.........!!
Hope it all ends well mate and as mentioned previously on the thread if theres anything i can do to help out please let me know.
-
Sorry to hear of your bad luck!
Anything we can do, then let us know.
-
Bugger!
After coming back from 2 doses of piston and valves chatting a sodding POLO finally sees off the car!
You gonna buy back and repair - its my only link to the forum :'(

any witnesses? If you can prove she pulled over on you?.... Maybe?

any witnesses? If you can prove she pulled over on you?.... Maybe?
From what ive read in marks post she stopped and he didnt... :question

yep..in my country they measure your brake trace distance if its too short they give higher points (bad points) to the other side..
-
any witnesses? If you can prove she pulled over on you?.... Maybe?
From what ive read in marks post she stopped and he didnt... :question
if his speed (can be estimated/calculated by police) is within the limits and she stopped suddenly she has to pay according to my country rules..
-
Sorry to hear that :(
Are you sure it's a write off?

erm..your rules needs a bit update then ( for racer boy drivers like me) ;D :y
-
Sorry to hear this Mark, blimey you're writing them off faster than I am, if there's anything I can do to help, just ask.....
-
no need for the police to attend unless someone is injured or road furniture is damaged, if either party fails to stop at the scene and you have the details/vin number they will pursue it, but may still not attend the scene. Afaik anyway. I am sure Hotel21 will advise...?

Mark minding his own business if you ask me...?

Oh dear not the best place to shunt someone,
I bet the driver will be claiming whip lash over the weekend.
Best of luck, but you hit her and she will milk it.
It was in Coventry wasnt it !

if police do not attend ,
the sides cant agree
and simply kill each other
thats the solution we found here ;D :D

The Mk1 viewpoint that most cops (and courts/Insurance companies) take is that if one car is planted up the rear of the other then the rearmost one is the one at fault. Also the same for the domino theory pileups on motorways, broadly speaking.
Great if you have the witnesses to prove that the car in front was reversing, but very very difficult to prove otherwise.....

But should have left a large enough gap too react without hitting the car in front...not something we always do...but its what we should be doing.

if I understand correctly, this means that if I slam the brakes suddenly in the middle of 120 km/h lane I will be innocent :-?
::) suitable place for women drivers..

Short answer, yes.
The car behind should be travelling far enough behind to stop in time, irrespective of what the car in front does...

Sorry to hear, Mark. Hope you find a new omega soon..

Thats a picture from my city traffic..
so traffic police never applies the rule: twice distance of your X speed..
and shares the points between the sides and check your brake distances and prepare an accident report (if you demand and wait for them)

And the long answer? If a car over takes you, pulls in front leaving you nowhere to go and slams on the breaks what are you meant to do?

As soon as the gap in front of you closes, you reduce speed/brake to increase the gap to a safe level.
great in theory, harder in practice.
Most legal circles revolve in black and white, not grey or glorious technicolour, unfortunately....
-
Without witnesses I would imagine you are stuffed, which is why professional insurance claimants do exactly that. :(

Practically in crowded roads witnesses are other drivers which doesnt have any right to stop and block the road..this means you are :-X

Hence the need for a witness...no chance without one.

Sorry to here that Mark :(.
Surely the fact that she drove onto the roundabout then hit the brakes meant she pulled out dangerously then thought twice about it without any regard for following drivers, i mean it is a give way and not a stop signed junction >:(.
She should be done for dangerous driving IMO >:( but in the real world the right thing never seems to be the done thing :(.

What dangerous...she pulled away, found it wasnt safe too do so and stopped.
Its admirable everyone has jumped too Marks defence and rallied around but lets not forget it boils down too she stopped and mark didnt.
Why oh why do people want too make it more than it is. ;D
-
I've nearly done this quite a few times. Car in front takes off, you look to your right for anything coming and start to move off and, sh!t, they've stopped again.
I've actually trained myself to watch nothing other than the car in front of me and I dont make a move until it's gone.
I believe this is one of the most common shunts.

I go away for a week, and look what you've done!
Can't leave you alone for a minute, can I?
Seriously, bad luck Mark :(

I've done it myself, women in front started to turn right at a junction then fannyied around and changed her mind because she didn't have the confidence to be driving, and i was already looking ahead so ran into the back of her - luckily only about 2mph so minor damage.
Totaly my fault BUT it's very frustrating being sat behind unconfident drivers who need a 1/4 mile gap in both directions to pulll out, the roads are so busy in rush hour you need to be confident and sometimes aggressive otherwise you'll be waiting all day. >:(

I'm afraid, it is MDTM's "fault" in this case. These shunts are pretty common (I work in roundabout city), and always falls in favour of the car in front. It is not relevent what she was doing...
-
Years ago I went in to the back of a Triumph Stag , I was about 20 at the time. The other bloke was good enough to not go through insurance. But it still cost me around £35 for a little bit of chrome trim + some other bits ....... a lot of money at the time :(
-
yeah sadly its always the way but its goes in favour of the car hit
-
oh, if you do want to repair it i have a complete t reg breaking if its any use
-
Thats the problem with women drivers, they hesitate, ponder, nervous, frightened to pull out when there is plenty of space like 400-500yards of gap, not looking at the road always looking in the mirror AT themselves etc do I need to go on, and they say that women drivers are the safest drivers on the road? Thats what statistics say anyway but thats wrong.
I have found that when I am driving on the road I have seen plenty of women drivers not taking notice of whats going on around them and when they do brake suddenly they start to blame you/the other driver. I think that women drivers should have to take some form of reaction test every 3 months and men should do the same just to include them into this as well.
But sorry to here about your accident Mark hope you get the mig sorted out either by insurance or diy.
Paul :y
-
Glad you're ok Mark. That's the most important.
Yep, on the face of it, down to you. :'(
BUT;- There are SET UPS at the moment.
i.e. Big car targeted by little car. Little car gets in front and then the sting!!!!!
Appears what's been said, no injury or witnesses. However, if it is a set up, watch the injuries mount and uncle Tom Cobbly and his show jumping team come forward as witnesses.
Just a thought :-?
-
Bad news Mark :(
So will you be repairing it or if not then what will you replace it with? If you need a hand with anything then give me a shout :y
-
Ah, the give way line at a round about, i see. No chance, wittness or not... sorry to hear, bloody easy to do though, managed it on a bike, sore nuts for a week makes sure you dont do it again, and no mistake :o
