Got a new battery, put a tenners worth of jank in it, now bear in mind that the car hadn't been started in 5 years so I was expecting problems started straight up first turn of the key :D And I also found out why it didn't start last year I left the earth wire off how embarrasing :-[
But everytime I put the car in drive or any other gear apart from park it bleeps like when the door is open so you drive along with it like that >:( Only does it in drive and reverse etc not park though, anyone have any idea's? 1997 P Scorpio Ultima 2.0

I had one of these for 6 weeks till I sold it... annoying bloody thing...
Biggest issue with mine was god-awful wiring, especially in regards to the engine loom... Gave up trying to fix it so sold it for spares!

Is it a paper bag warning so noone can see you? ;D ;D

They are ugly cars, but most comfortable i've ever driven and seriously as comfy as the s-class that I sat it at the motor show.

Is tha not a clue. Car in drive , a door open and a beeper going off. Does it stop when you close the door, or put the seat belt on. :y
-
Just re-read what you said. :-[
But check if the interior light is still on
-
its probably the warning beep to make sure you put it in park when engine off etc. must be a switch somewhere (maybe on selector) that you could unplug/bypass mayb? :y
-
norm seat belt warning have a fiddle with the buckle

Love the scorpio!! i had a 2.9 cosworth, what a machine!! I know some say they are ugly.....but beauty is in the eye of the beholder :y

Had a Scorpio prior to my mig but it wasnt the later model that looked like its front end had been left in front of the fire and had melted downwards. :D
Mine was big clumsy poor handling model always felt like the back end was sliding away on the motorways ( it probably was :-[) the difference driving the miggy was sooo much better !
sorry but I dont miss mine one bit :y

Rover liked them more....it ment that the 800 series was not the shitest car in its market segment!

For VX it went from roughly 1:1 to 3:1 VX vs Ford sales.
The Grannies sold roughly the same as Carlton/Senator and AFAIR the Omega outsold the WMF at least 3:1

There are very nice and comfortable cars to drive, very quiet too. I used to have a 2.3, a bit slugish though but really enjoyed it. Paintworks always comes out shining.
With regards to the original poster probably best to refer you to www.fordscorpio.co.uk

Lets be totally honest no way was it that bad. I honestly think Scorpio's are fantastic cars the looks are suspect but comfort noise level, gajets and things like that more than make up for it.

I drove a 2.9 Granny for a number of years as a company car. Preferred the hatchback as opposed to the saloon but, thankfully, we moved away from the Granada's when the bug eye version came out.
Never did like the look of them, despite the running gear and internals being much the same....
-
Fixed it and the radio :D It was the fuse for the interior lights and interior audio equipment. Sound system is good :y I forgot how comfy it was and how much the seat reclined ;D

Having been lucky enough to of driven All 3 i owned a 800 aswell (For a week admitidly)
The Rover 800 is by far the worst it feels to long and drives like a lorry infact a lorry problably handles better! the 800 rolls and bounces about too much the 2.0 Turbo has absolutely no go in it what so ever
The Scorpio being RWD the handling is so-so still the rear seems a little light the 2.7 cosworth is underpowered and over rated
The Omega MV6 well!!!! i bought the MV6 over the scorpio
The 800 also has appauling build quality none of the toys worked on the vitesese i owned for a week
I bought the 800 cheap from a local auction i thought being a 2.0T it might be abit fun boy was i wrong i sold it on eBay for a modest profit :y

most of the rover 800 2.0 turbos have been ragged to buggery, and are all knackered. Generally toys stay working, unlike earlier SD1, but build quality isn't great, particularly later ones built in the BMW era.
Not many good ones around, but handling can be reasonable, but does suffer understeer under hard power.

I had a Rover 827 auto, lovely fast comphy car that was a flying machine, also had a 2.0l a different car, was crap engine and gearbox wise. :)

I had a scorpio for a few months, I had the 2.9 Cosworth and it was a lovely cruiser, Ugly as sin but once you were inside it really was a supreme waft mobile. HGF killed mine :-/
I have had a few 800's as well, and I can honestly say the Mig is a better car by a country mile, in fact I still have one (800) I do have a soft spot for them but i couldn't have one as my only car after driving the mig.
