Hi All - just got back from my local Halfords and a lot of their tool sets are reduced - I bought a 150 piece socket set that I had looked at a couple of weeks ago when it was £199 - it's now £97.89 !! I have used these sets from Halfords before and they are really good for home mechanics so just thought I would spread the word :y
Have checked the website and details are on there - unfortunatley I am not clever enough to put a link in but i am sure your all capable of finding the halfords website.

linky here. (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173083_langId_-1_categoryId_165572)
I managed to get one myself - bloody great toolkit - when they discounted it before and added another 10% off for web orders (i.e. order online, then collect instore).
I paid about £85 for mine! :y

I'm not so keen on the newer 150pc ones (loads of screwdriver bits it seems), fortunately I have 2 of the older kits.
It has its downsides - the spanners are a bit thin and dig in, but its a good set covering most bases :y

Yup they look ok neat kit, but over the last year or so i have gradually built up my tool kit using some i had & some newbie buys , even used an old metal toolbox with a knife/fork & spoon divider in it LOL ! so its pretty much up to what I need "just metric" main used sockets are the toughened 6 sided ones & a decent breaker bar, even a torque wrench !
But think it covers the main stuff ok, just looks like a load of old spanners. :y ;)

Great sets with most of the tools you need

Thought about buying that set at christmas, but the large quantitiy of screwdriver bits put me off. Ended up spending £65 on a decent draper expert socket set at my local tool shop. It even has lots of deep sockets in it

got one of these sets last year at £85. have found it very good so far. :y

Mrs gixer and me Mum got me one for xmas, the advanced one as it turns out. Dont see the problem with the screwdriver sockets tbh, all the smaller torx and allen keys are there with an adapter hex-quarter inch drive so you can use the screw driver or ratchet, whatever you need for your application.
It has ratchet spanners and female torx sockets for the plenum and bastuard bolt etc albeit with too big a shoulder on the small sizes using the larger drive. Only thing it needs is some adapters to use different size ratchets with the various sockets witch i had anyway, sounds odd on the face of it but there you go, cant remember what i was doing that needed two ratchets..... Anyway def a good choice for the money and whats available at the moment. The Mrs said the web site gave an extra discount at the end but she cant remember the total paid, but its was a while ago so maybe it was an xmas deal.
Dont forget Halfords do a trade club card, well easy to blag, first obviously. :-)
