At the beginning of December i bought another house to to do a quick renovation on and to sell on to make myself some money as you do, which is another reason why i've not been on here as much as i've been spending a lot of evenings working.
So as normal i went there tonight after i finished work to find my new front door i fitted a couple of weeks lying under the front window and in its place was some lovely plywood with a note attached to it from West Mercia Police.
Yes they had raided the house for Drugs, gaining entry with the Big Red Key!!!!!!!
After unscrewing my plywood door i walked in to find a search warrant, a groveling letter, a compensation form and a telephone number.
After calling the telephone number and said who i was a very polite policeman said they were after the previous occupants as they were given information that lead them to believe illegal substances were in the house and realised they had made a mistake once they entered the house and found it empty. Apology after apology followed for the mistake and the inconvenience followed by another apology.
So now i need yet another new front door courtesy of West Mercia Police. :-?

You think thats bad. Last January I was working in County Durham and I had 4 days work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Friday so on Tuesday I can home to see the wife (yes I know I must be mad ;D) anyway Wednesday night I was washing up after tea and there was a knock at the door so I went and answered it and standing there where 2 of Cheshire finest. They said "Mr Pete Elite" I said "yes" they said I have a warrant for your arrest for not attending court in 2000. I said your taking the pi55 arnt you as my daughter works for the plod and I thought it was a wind up. No they said youve got to come with us as you have to appear in Birkenhead court tomorrow. Anyway long and short of it all was led away in hand cuffs the neighbours curtains twitching my wife going mad at the coppers, a night in the cells and an early morning drive to Birkenhead courts in a Securicor Van then stuck in a cell with the smelliest tramp in the world to be put up infront of the judge to be charged with drunk driving in 2000. What really poxed me off was it could have been sorted out on the night of the arrest if the two Cheshire coppers could be arsed to drive me to the cop shop and take my fingerprints and match them with the ones of the drunk driver which where take when he was arrested. So in the end i lost £500 work and I had to take time out to give my prints at the local plod shop and my daughter doesnt understand why I dont like and will never help the police again :'(

They may not just give you the money. They may get some community service youths to do the job instead :D

More waste of public money..... ;D ;D ;D, laugh,.....nearly cried :'( :'(......?.. Elite petes comments I can relate too, just for helpin out some unfortunate punter that the bouncers gave a dig which they should'nt have), then realising they fuxxed up pissed off. the punter left outside on the deck. Barmaid told is about him, I went outside put him in recovery position, got one my sleeping bags (as it was very cold) put that over him. Police turn up, I advise the officer that the punter had a fractured skull, he administered a bandage etc.. two ambulances turn up. i go back in the bar, next thing a few officers come in questioning, advised them about the boncers. they then arrest me and my mate 2.30 a.m. Sunday morning. Banged up in peckham nick, eventually got out at 10.30p.m. sunday evening, went home in a pair of disposable overalls and plimsoles. At around 8.00/8.30 a.m. the seargant advised me the punter had a fractured skull. Had to get a brief etc., etc..3 months later, despite the police actaully knowing the bouncer wacked the punter. I was able to go back and get my belongings due to insufficient evidence.
This is just one story I have on this subject, but I can site several others of which I have been involved in through no fault of my own just through helping folks out and yes some down to me.

Timbuk, Elite Pete, & mikedundee - only one word: Ouch! :'(

What really poxed me off is the person that was drunk driving gave my name and his old address because he didnt know my address and I told the police at the time of my arrest who it was because this is the second time it has happened and they didnt want to know. Just to add dispite me telling the police where the culprit is 12 months on and he still hasnt been arrested for it.

I do hate the police post millenium and attitudes ( generally) with a passion >:(
And yes i know theres some exclusions to this very wide spread generalisation ( like our own Hotel21 but then again he is old skool :y)
I grew up with a family full of active police officers. And how the force has changed over 10-20 years and the garbage they let in now is frightening.
Intrestingly all the friends, family and my father included have all left the force and dont have a good word to say about it nowadays.
Its now a business not a public service.

Wasn't after a weekend at Santa Pod was it Pete?? ;D ;D ;D

....its now a business not a public service.
Sadly true.
But in a number of occasions the Police shoot themselves in the corporate foot due to new staff simply not following the recognised way of doing things, learned by others over years to reduce the upcock factor and trying to shortcut the system without the knowledge or experience to do it properly.
Such is the rush to release Officers onto the streets to assuage public fears of 'lack of Officers', said Officers are quite probably not learning their trade to as full an extent as possibly had been done by others in years past.
Add to this the fact that we now all live in 'Sue City' - motto No Win, No Fee - the Police and Government impose legal and other restraints which move us away from good old common sense and reality.
And thats not getting into the PC/Ethnic argument..... :-[ :-X :-/ :-?

ROTFLMAO!!! Oh, I'm in tears Timbuk! ;D Guess they didn't check the land register or whatever it's called before they got the warrant :-? Of course, now the druggies will set up residence while you are getting a new door. ::)
Wondered where u went. Tried to call over the weekend.

It gets better!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday i went back to the house, to see the damage in daylight, just to make sure it was only the door. It's a terraced house , so the only access to the rear is via a gate through the next door neighbours garden, but they have dogs so it's a bit of a pain to leave it open.
Once inside, had a quick check and it is only the door. As i was there i thought i would do a bit of work, so instead of bothering the neighbours again i just opend the lounge window to get in and out. In and out i went a couple of times to get some tools. Back out again i went again, opened the tailgate on the meega as a patrol car pulled up next to me. ' What now ' I thought. Mr officer got out of his car and said ' we've had a report of someone breaking in '. ' GO AWAY ' i said politely >:(

Talking of Police; I went home on the Warwick bypass this morning. Cruising at about 80 & saw a car behind me flying up in the outside lane. I thought "shall I surprise him & floor mine", but was too tired so decided against it. Turned out to be a marked "jam jar", must have been doing 100+ without blue lights on :-?
