Title: code reader and rest tool

thinking of getting a fault code reader and reset tool..i have a x reg. 2000. omega ..do i need a obd2..or a eobd
anyone know... ta pete

No generic one will work, as non eobd/obdii compliant

I read somewhere that the fault codes can be 'pushed off' the ECU by turning the ignition on (but not starting) and then off 20 times. Is this true? I cannot test this as I have no faults.

Not sure about that one, Paper Clip test works on most.

By 'pushed off', I meant cleared, not read. ;-)

By 'pushed off', I meant cleared, not read. ;-)

They say that 20 'clean starts' will clear the ECU of any fault codes. The miss-fire codes have cleared by themselves from SWMBO's Astra G

no - 20 'clean' starts (ie, it starts and runs for a while).

some codes clear straight away, some never appear to clear (eg immobiliser and eml ones), some clear after a while
