If you scrap 3 vehicles (if scheme is introduced in UK) any chance you can get 3 vouchers and £6k off a new car? lol :y

and would probably be be one per household.

Effectively a rubbish scheme then as if £2k off a new car was enough to get people buying the dealers offering £2k off a nearly new car as they currently do anyway out of desperation would mean we would all have a new car...
I own a 10+ year old car for a reason, I dont have the money to upgrade...although I also rather like it :y

It's like I said last week though. If a dealer for example will offer you £2k for any part exchange even an MOT failure, then it means they are prepared to drop the new car by £2k anyway as scrap is worthless at the moment..
A mate was offered £2k (Vx Dealer) for his 26,000 mile Vectra 1800LS. I pulled him to one side and reckoned he would get more for his car, I then found out he was buying a brand new Vectra from a dealer (05/55 plate cant quite remeber) He chatted at work and 2 people were interested in his car, one offered £2k cash the other offered £2500 but needed time to raise it. (they didnt know about each others offers)
I told him to be prepared to walk away from a dealer and play one againt the other. He got £2500 cash discount from the dealer.
Had we have not had a chat he would just of taken the £2k PX. Just as the average punter will get drawen into these dealer offers. :-/

And if he had really thought about it he could have taken the £2k from the guy making the lower offer as well as the guys old scrap car then traded the scrap car in for £2k off his new car and been £4k better off :y

But in the end he was actually £4500 better off. £2000 cash from a work mate and £2500 dealer discount.

Just re-read what you wrote. Would have been an interesting point, but the dealer only gives cash discount, or a PX allowance. Doubt they would offer both.
