Post by: sir moanalot on 16 April 2009, 16:44:55
as i will not get a brill final amount on an insurance/savings policy i decided to surrender it today and was told i would get £20.38 !! not bad for a £14 a month outlay over the past 10 years !!!
so no im undecided, to i cut my losses and surrender or carry on and get approx £944 in 5 years time??  after paying a further £840 ??
i know im getting life cover in it aswell but will get a better return on the £14 in a company share save scheme....... :-/

I suppose at least you are saving it, if you didn't you would find something to spend it on  :-?

How much would the life cover cost you separately and do you need it?

depends on the level of life cover (probably pretty low) and whether you really need it.  most employers give 2-4 times salary life cover as part of pension - do you need any more.  (BTW the mortgage sales people often don't tell you this when they sell additional life cover as part of a mortgage)

Company SAYE plan  probably couldn't be any worse because you'll get your money pay even if the share price tanks.
