Recently took my Pug 406 Turbo Diesel off the road for 2 weekends, for a bit for an overhaul/rebuild, and to play with our new big boys toys....
Work involved included, by by far not limited to...
Driveshafts, Engine and gearbox removal
Replacement of both Crank seals (One was leaking)
Replacement of Head gasket / head bolts and cylinder head service with new Seals / Cam Seals
Replacement of Clutch Kit
New Cam Cover Gasket
New Sump Gasket
New Timing belt kit, waterpump, aux belt.
Exhaust manifold gasket
Inlet manifold gasket
Turbo Seals
And lots, lots lots more.
Got it all back together - wouldn't fire to begin with, even with diesel at the injectors. Turned out to be a short on the glow plug feed wire, once sorted she roared into life.
No more overheating, no more clutch slip and judder, no more oil loss (Apart from one seal I need to re-do ::) ;D )

Nope, it is the 1.9 litre Turbo Diesel XUD - indirect injection.
Bulletproof - and quite drivable, with a blower on it :y
-
I have done several heads on the pug diesel engines, really is a weak spot on them, BTW James if you ever need an injector pump i have one sitting in my shed :y

Thanks mate.
I think it's like the Rover - OK with proper coolant mixes, etc.
This one should be good for a few K, with a new HG and fresh ( VX :D ) coolant in there ;D
-
Nice garage and tool setup :y
-
nice job James. :y

Nah, like the Rover, liable to blow its load at any point. In fairness, when those XUDs do pop a HG, its normally spectucular ;D

A mate of mine found a more spectacular way of killing one. Turbo seal failure followed by revving its' nuts off until it runs out of engine oil. Closed the M3 due to poor visibility. ;D
