Title: switch / contact cleaners
Post by: Jimbob on 16 April 2009, 14:00:40
can anyone recommend one / or one to avoid?

Bloody airbag lights come one again, its Always the connector in the back of the drivers seat, looking to turn it off for a little longer  :y

Everytime I take it out, few plays with connector, put it back, I get 2-3 months out of it.

Are you sure its not a dodgy wire or wire to connector problem?

they all seem firm in the connector  :-/

I just know that connector being played with lowers the resistance enough to turn the light off.

RS, Farnell or Halfords, but what ever Switch Cleaner you use aways check it on plastic first in case its starts melting.

resistance in all other circuits 2.05 ish ohms
drivers side circuit - 3.15 ohms!

bit on the high side, hope this cures it.

Took it apart, gave the connector a spray, left it 30 mins and reassembled!

1/2ed the resitance and airbag light off again!

You may also notice in the above data how long the airbag light had been on (18600)  those who ignore these faults pretending it just came on in the event of an accident, be aware, your ecu can tell tales on you!
