Sounds a lot of trouble for not alot of gain but maybe it could look nice if done properly !!

Easiest way would be LEDs but like you say, legally I dont know where you would stand on them?

Case of mounting them, and getting wiring through A post into door, into mirror.

Not much else to say really  :-/

My only observation would be that all of the cars I have seen with these, as a production feature as well as retro fit, have retained the "traditional" repeaters too ...... maybe just mirror indicators don't conform to Construction and Use Regs

Personally I don't like them, and can't see the urge to go through all the hassle  :-/

But thats what makes us all unique :y

I think you are putting yourself through a load of hassle fitting, but hope it works out. As for the legal situation, it would be lighting regs.
The flank indicators or (side repeaters) must show:-

Between rearward angles of 5° outboard and 60° outboard or, in the case of a motor vehicle having a maximum speed not exceeding 25 mph where it is impracticable to comply with the 5° angle, this may be replaced by 10°.
15° above and below the horizontal

Easy enough to comply then, the wiring is down to you.
If you manage it, I would love to see the pics on here.

In which case you have to follow a lot of laws and rules.

VOSA should be able to supply the requirements you must meet

Never mind about the door mirrors and LED'S ect, How about getting hold of some old style Trafficators off a 1940's car and grafting them on to your B posts?  they would be sure to get you noticed :y

Not necessarily the case...

My Viano has them fitted to the door mirrors with no other side repeaters, however it has about 4 leds fitted per side, with appropiate reflectors to angle the spread of light, so you can see them when you stand in front, at the side and slightly to the rear (they have a slight clear plastic dome on the ends to help bend the light backwards.

Big downside tho' is when you have an argument with another van's door mirror, you dont get much change outa £350 from the merc dealer for a new mirror  :o :(

Easiest thing would be to get some complete mirrors from a car that does have them, and swap them over.  May need to mod the mounting of the mirror to doo, and may need to fabricate some new mouldings.

Then you need to fabricate something to replace the side ones.

Awful lot of messing around for no gain...
