I`ve just read on MSN news that 5 people died in a head on smash on the M1 in Bedfordshire apparantly the Polish driver of a minibus hit a Jag head on killing all in the mini bus and the occupants of the Jag...... :(

Yes you are right Bertie, the same news story features on the BBC site:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/8006605.stm
How awful, and all down to what would appear to be a stupid error on the part of the Polish registered mini-bus. :'( :'(
The number of times in my driving career that I have encountered someone approaching me on the wrong side of a dual carriage or motorway I have lost count of! Certainly one of those at least should have proved fatal but for the grace of God. ::) ::) ::)

I`m glad i changed my career from driving to the security proffession now...I still have my wits about whilst driving though but i have also lost that road rage i used to get whilst driving and its had a weight loss benefit as well i`ve dropped from 24 stone to just over 20 stone now plus now that i`m walking my rounds i`ve noticed i dont get so easily out of breath....

As a Class 2 HGV driver, other peoples bad driving doesnt worry me at all.......If they want to come at me head on against 18 tons of metal doing 59mph (on the mway) then they can.......
I always do all I can to avoid any incidents, however it will always be the other vehicle that comes off worse.....
Unless the other vehicle is a 40 ton artic of course....... :y
Nonetheless a tragic case which again shows us all how much attention we should be paying to our driving........instead of chatting on mobiles, reading papers, doing makeup whilst behind the wheel....
:(

You feel really sorry for the people who were in the Jag who died through no fault of their own. I feel sorry for the Polish car people aswell and just wonder what the driver was up to :-?

Polish driver must surely have been either drunk, not paying attention or very confused........Tragic case obviously.

I've had it happen to me. About 3 in the morning heading down the A14, I was heading for Felixstowe with a 40 foot container fully loaded. Just past Cambridge and thought the headlights coming toward me looked odd. I realised just in time that they were on my side of the armco! I was in the outside lane on my limiter at the time overtaking another wagon and had to anchor down to cut back in behind else I'd have wiped the car our. Was a french registered clit so no way would the occupants have survived! It don't half make your bottom twitch when something like that happens!!!
