Last one I had was the 107E Prefect, 4 speed and ohv engine. :y

It won't be a 1963 I don't think as the then new 'A' registration came out.  But the  old number plate will be worth a bob or two with or without the car. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Is this a sit up and beg early Mk1 version or the 'new' Mk 2 'modern' one? :-?

Seriously though apart from my first car ride in a 1958 A30, the Ford Prefect was the first brand new car (with seats still wrapped in plastic) I was driven in during 1960. 8-) 8-) 8-)

A reg did first appear in 1963 (I was 1  ::)) but I believe it was brought out in the south east first. Other parts of the country used up some of their none prefix numbers before it was rolled out to the rest of the country ...... so my Dad said!   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
London's Town Halls, along with other major cities/towns used their numbers faster than more rural areas which is why you'll find that different formats were being issued at the same time depending where you were.

I recall going on holiday in a Morris 1000 van, my seat was a cushion on top of the gear leaver ::) First new car, would be My Dad's company car, a Hillman Husky c1963 they are an estate can and I can remember a friend and myself sitting / kneeling in the boot. :y

That's interesting Andy, and obviously being a Kent girl it would explain why I noticed so many 'A' reg.'s at the time.  So I assume that elsewhere in the country they may not have started the new registrations until say 1964 when they would have gone straight to 'B' ;) ;)

I believe it was 1965 when the system was fully rolled out countrywide 'C' Reg. :y
