Title: finally see a dietican today
Post by: Richie London on 21 April 2009, 12:58:14
no more fried breakfasts, tea, coffee, coke, citrus drinks. no burgers, kebabs, currys, and most of all smoking and beer. got to eat 3 times a day instead of just the one huge meal after drinking

have to start eating poached eggs, scrambled eggs, grilled bacon, lots of red meat and chicken tomato juice, pineapple, melon cereals, brown bread, rice,  mash, boiled and baked potatos.and fish. and at least 5 of a combination of fruit and salad a day.3 litres of water. have to go back in 6 weeks for a review.  :( :(

she didnt mention spirits though so i guess thats ok  :)

Yep. Sod the fish and the eggs. That leaves bacon butty (brown bread) :y for breakfast. KFC for lunch and fire up the barbie for some rib-eye and jacket spuds for tea. 8-)

I have that - to a lesser degree than you have, I would imagine - and it sure as hell makes working on the car entertaining, for example every time I lie down under the car I want to throw up.

Although that may have something to do with the state of it, rather than my health.  :)

Glad to see that you're back on the mend, though. :y

funny how when we were young, never really listen to a lot our parents told us, always see it as moaning. my dad used to say all these heavy drinking sessions and smoking will catch you up and your regret it in the end.  well hes 79 this year and had half his stomach removed through ulcers and had to pack up smoking last year. now i tell my kids things and it goes in one ear and out the other just the same. luckily they both despise cigarettes and wont smoke, just hope they dont drink like me and my dad used to.

some personal experience..

After fathers sickness I decided to give up some foods and drinks..

Mostly I eat veggies, fish and chicken..Very very rarely red meat..

Veggies half boiled..No sweets and cola..

I eat 2 times a day..And no snack between..

My acidic stomach and tension problems etc lost suddenly..

ps : For iron I eat fresh boiled peas and spinach (mixed with eggs) ..

pps: alcohol consumption kills the hemoglobin cells which carry oxygen..so I also limit that to once a week one glass only :'(

Unless it's the meds option --- which is a pill you take which reacts violently if and when you smoke --- basicallly makes you sick as a dog -- sort of aversion therapy.  My uncle tried it and nearly killed himself smoking anyway !!!!

Welcome to the club (hiatus hernia club)
I got diagnosed with that some 14 years ago and It can be unpleasant i know, but with a little bit of common sence its not a problem.
Avoid acidic foods and coffee is out unless its decaf.
The best tip i got was to raise the headboard end of the bed so you dont vomit in your sleep, I did and slightly damaged the vocal chords but there OK now.
A brick under each corner of the headboard end of the bed and thats job done.
If you take it easy and avoid the heavy drinking =curry sessions, you will be back to normal by Christmas. :y

its the acid my problem is, and its quite painful sometimes. but least my blood is back to normal again and i cant bear a lot of stuff i eat lately so i should be ok with the change  :y

Yes mate I know what your saying.
I was lucky as my GP was also a mate of mine and he said listen to your body its telling you something isnt wright.
The raising of the headboard end of the bed took some getting use to , but atleast I got a good nights sleep and that is very important.
Your system has been damaged by the acid and needs a rest from it you need to take it easy for a while so the damage can repair its self.

Hi Rich,
Didn't know you had this problem, if I'd known we could have exchanged horror stories!!! ;D.

What tablets are you taking, Lansoprazole?

When i had my first attack of this about 7 years ago i thought i was having a heart attack and so did the paramedics until they put me on a heart monitor :o.

Did you have the camera done the throat test, oh what a joy that was :(.

Got to admit I've not had any problems for around 3 years now and intend/hope to keep it that way, best way i found to give up smoking is to just quit which i did in May 96 after 22 years of trying to slowly kill myself ::) but i suppose everybody's different :(.

        Hope you stay pain free,

                           Pete :y

I have had hiatis hernia for 10 yrs. I think it's for life. :'( Chewing gum seems to help? Don't know why.
