I have noticed that when quoting another users post, the users numerical ID is given instead of their actual forum name (as well as the date, etc being in an "unfriendly" format)
Now this is fine if you are only quoting a single person, but it could present a bit of confusion for the "noobs" if somebody wants to seperately address a post that contains multi-quoted messages.
Any chance of when the quote facility is used, it displays the users actual (friendly) name instead of it's numerical value?

Looks fine to me.

Looks fine to me.
This is what it looks like to the person quoting when it appears in the message box
Looks fine to me.
When you finally submit the post, it reverts back to the "friendly" user name.

Just had a quick look at the background of YaBB forums...open source, nuff said (the capital B's in the name should have been the giveaway to me anyway).

Yup, we use YaBB, with only a lightly modified core.

Yes preview works Ian.
But as I said earlier, it really doesn't bother me per se because I can see what's going on.....I was just thinking about forum "noobs" and making life easy for them really.

Let the newbies use bog standard quote, and as they get more familiar with it, they will learn more advanced techniques normally :)
