Back last year, I changed to Swiftcover at renewal time, when I bought the 406 TD - as it was a much better quote.
Just enquired about insurance for the Miggy, now it is nearly done, and - they won't cover me. >:(
I am 25, clean driving licence held since I was 17, 6 years no claims and no fault accidents.
Apparently the engine is too big.
Problem is - if I switch companies - I lose no claims I've built on this Policy....
-
shit happens.....
-
Why would you loose your no claims, this normally transfers between companies :-/

Only if you complete the full year of the Policy, I believe...
-
how will you lose your no claims then :-? i thought they stay with you who ever you get insurance off . i know mine do :y

shit happens.....
It does - for strange reasons... ;D
-
How do you lose you no claims?
-
RE the no claims - I will rephrase -
I won't lose ALL my no claims - just what I've built up so far this year....
-
James, what engine have you got in there then? :-/
I was 25 when took on my first 3.0 miggy and only had uk licence for 5months...
-
he would lose the 6months no claims since he's had this shite policy

I can understand that, but you would still have 5 years, which is the same as if you had renewed with your current insurer as a part year won't count anyway. :y
-
Let the current year run. How long till it ends? Transfer the current no cl;aims less th eongoing year to the new company (that you have still to find) and take it on the chin.
Otherwise, run the Pug until the curent year ends and transfer full no claims then.
thought you had a traders policy anyway? If so, whats the prob? :-?
-
Ah right.

have you tried compare the meerkat . com ;D ;D :D

Yes, that is what I shall do....

I have insurance that covers me to work on cars, and will cover me for public liability if any problems occur as a direct result of any work that I do.
I don't have insurance that will just let me jump in any car and drive it.... (unless it already has a Policy of it's own...)

In that case, cut your losses. get a traders policy....

I shall most likely run the pug, to the end of the policy - and consider my options at renewal time.
Thanks for the input :y

If you are still doing running repairs on omegas and others, a traders policy is sensible. Means you can road test as and when without worrying if the car your repairing is insured in its own right or not. Think you can notify max of three/four 'permanent' changes per year, no max for temporary 9cars beinf repaired) notifications? no doubt others more familiar will advise....

Thanks Broocie
Running repairs are few and far between - maybe one in every few weeks at most - however I will definately look into the details. It's also an area I know little about... so appreciate advice thus far :y

James -- ring around a few insurance companies direct --- don't use a comparison site. Explain the situation -- the coompanies are fighting for business and might well bump up an "introductory" NCB to get your business. PITA making the calls -- but might pay off.
-
Give Morethan a call, they must be desperate for business.
I was in bed today when they called about a quote I did online, they rang another 3 times to get my business...........anyway it was very good, I hope they are when you make a claim.
It's the best quote I've ever had for insurance so far and just over £300 for both cars........ok there old but it's still fully comp cover with protected NCD.

Try eCar Insurance :y next year!
they me insured on the Mv6 been driving claim free since i was 17 have 4yrs NCB clean license and theyre currently insuring the MV6 for £600 odd
i may try Admiral next year due to there multicar discount
Tradex are good for trade policies
-
TBH I've found multi-car policies to be expensive. I got a quote this year from Admiral and it worked out more expensive than insuring the cars separately!
As for Trade Policies, I used to have one and it was very good. The only time it becomes a real pain is if you want more than 1 driver insured as the risk essentially doubles because you could potentially have 2 or more claims at the same time. IIRCC I was paying around £70/month for mine, fully comp on any vehicle including bikes (with some of the superbikes excluded) and I was only slightly older than you are now. I think it was arranged through Footman James :-/ :-/

Try compare the meerkat, or confused etc and see if Siftcover come up - if they do and its reasonable - ring them up and point out they are talking 'dangle berries'.
