Brother in law has a Nissan Vanette Cargo 2.3 which he uses for work.It has developed an intermittent noise which he describes as sounding like 2 metal discs rubbing together, the noise stops when he pushes the clutch pedal down.First thing that sprung to mind was the clutch release bearing but he had a complete new clutch fitted 2 days ago and the problem is still the same as it was.Anyone got any ideas? :-/

Only thing I can think of is a problem with the flywheel :-/
Happened to me a while back, only there was a horrible grindng sound while pressing the clutch

Gearbox input shaft?

Is he sure they fitted a release bearing when doing the clutch ? It would not be the first time it was "missed"

Tell him to turn the radio up, that usually cures bad noises :y
Unless he puts radio 1 on, then it will get worse.
