Title: CAR TRANSPLANTS - CHESHIRE... Urghhhhhh!
Post by: Dave-C on 15 May 2009, 12:32:21
I hereby vow, NEVER, NEVER to set a foot in that place again  >:(

This how it works there now, you go to the desk, tell them what you're after, they tell you the cost, you pay a deposit, they send the little Polish man to fetch it from the stores or off the car.

What sh1t !  :-X

They say that all scrap yards will go the same, I told them to "F*** O** in no uncertain terms"  ::)   "It's Health & Safety, Sir!"

"F*** O** again and goodbye!"  was my reply ;D

Sorry to let it out on here, just warning you all, avoid, avoid, avoid!
( Not me! )  That Bl00dy place...

DC  :)

Ive past it often enough but never been in.

One by me is similar.

expain to grumpy bloke what you want, he tells you how much, and someone goes and gets it, you check it and pay.

We used to have one you could walk around, but it burned down.

A walk around scrappy does seem to be rapidly beoming a thing of the past.

Depends what you want to do. There used to be a scrap your near us that worked like that. I wanted a door galss for my Mum's car, you said you wanted, he walked with you through to the racking ......... you picked what you wanted off the shelf - like Tesco  ;) - paid & you were away as clean as you were whe you arrived.  :y  :y It's closed down now.  :-?
All the rest of them are as you would expect a normal scrap yard to be. You ask at the gate for a  ***** , he points you to where the row of Vauxhalls/Fords/etc etc you get what you want, fill your pockets with fuses relays and pay on the way out. He suggests £30 you suggest £20 and you end up in the middle. Everyone is happy!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

At least letting someone else go and get the bits you want saves you from standing in the guard dogs turds which always seem massive ::)

Still a few old school scrappys near me, they also operate the " if it fits in your pocket its free" policy :) I pay for most of the stuff I get though ::)

The one that has started to ban you getting your own bits will probably close soon as the young lad always says they havent got what you want ( even though you can see it ) cos he can't be ar*sed getting it. >:(

I have to say though, that if you put your 'elf 'n' safety hat on, you'd have a field day. how many times have you climb a stack of 3 or even 4 cars to remove **** and the whole thing is gently swaying in the breeze?  :-?  :-?  :-?  :-?  :-?  :y

Never again  ;D

You'd just use a battery grinder these days  ;)  ;)...... although I doubt there'd be much steel left on a Metro wing these days!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Now I'm aware that you're refering to TonyGnome, but, maybe you've struck a chord here John, could it be that the Government and the HSE are in cahoots with a new apprentice scheme, and, this is one of the trials in Cheshire :exclamation

Well done Gordon Brown, Well done.....  ;D ;D

Pete, just after a few bit's n' bob's for my Transit Connect, it's just nice to have a rummage..

Just waiting to have the van sign written now...  nearly ready to go, just in case you weren't aware I took redundancy from BT, setting up back in my original trade, Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Telephone Extensions / Systems... at college at the mo' too, just doing 17th Edition Wiring Regs... bitting and bobbing with electrical too..

Sorry for the outburst ;D ;D

Apart from all that, pretty much sorted now...

DC ;)

My local scrappy is like a main dealers - you ask for the part, they check availability on their computer system, if its in stock you pay and a few minutes later it arrives, clean and packaged in a heat sealed polybag, with a part nş sticker on, all before your receipt is printed out.  Any problems with any part and they will exchange or money back  :y

Not as much fun though as wandering round with your toolkit  :-?
