Title: No Snow
Post by: Elite Pete on 08 February 2007, 04:48:09
Well its 4.45 and I can't sleep so I thought I would get up and see how many inches of snow we have. After the weather lady saying there would be between 10 and 15cm of snow theres none.

So how much have you got?

EP, we’ve got sweet F.A.
With these climate changes I must now live too far north the good snow we used to get.
We have about 1 cm yesterday morning, and it's still kicking around because it's been flipping cold since, but that's the only snow we've had this year.

Update

Just been out with black lab.....she came back white lab and i looked like a snowman  ;D

Its now getting on for 2-3 inches....and still coming down  :D

No im not going out this morning......peeps will be waiting long time for taxi's this morning and it will be busy.....but i dont see any sense in risking denting the omega or getting it dented.....for a few quid...and it'll take ages to get to and do jobs.....so no point going out.

Walked passed local hotel.....and always have deliveries this time of morning and the lorries are queued up in the road outside.....they always reverse into the loading bay and this morning they carnt get grip to reverse in.....i think they are nicking salt from the kitchen by the looks of it  ;D

Listening to the radio....about 20 local schools are closed....and coach company that does school runs have said they are not sending out any coaches today.......

Weather report from Derby... :)

It is snowing, but accumulation is just a skiffle right now.

Still snowing steadily but it is very fine (temp is below zero) so no huge amount yet.
This will change a lot if the temperature rises a couple of degrees c.

Just over 3"  here. Managed to get to work this morning (BAH!!) but took twice as long as normal. Office is next to Stansted Airport and that is closed at the moment, but it's not snowing too heavily just now. Only 3 of us made it in to work and we all came in the same car - what a bunch of skivers I work with!! ::)

In Derby it  has stopped snowing. I thnk the clouds looked down, realised the amount they were dropping was completely insignificant, and decided why bother!  ;)

All these comments on the news about travel disruption etc... comical if you happen to live here! Barely enough to cover the ground!

Well I've been sat here at work being smug all day, only had about 1/2".
My boss rang & said he's not coming in 'cos it's so bad where he is (about 7 miles away).
So I rang home (5 miles) & there's 4-5" there, hope I can get back  :o

had about 4 inches here all told......   didn't occur to me to take a picture of my stealth Omega......  a black car pretending , quite succesfully, to be white.....

the Sintra looked like some giant Snow monster,.,,,,

it's noticeably heavier here in Sandford than it is just 2 miles away in Temple Cowley

Both Schools closed, so enforced day off as Child care wasn't arranged , and turned out to be snowed in even worse than we were ... and her poor little Mazda Mx5 is apparently allergic to Snow.

either that or she has no idea how to drive in Snow

so a day off for me, more or less.

Tomorrow however I have to get to work on site at a client's  in Barford St Michael.....   near Bloxham....

and it's not optional.

so i'm hoping the light drizzle turns into proper rain and clears the snow up

max

After it freezing last night and making it really slippy after it mostly melted yesterday....the snow came down again this morning.....nothing like yesterday....but did start to cover a bit.....just got back from walking holly dog....and its raining now....just about cleared all the snow away....and instead of frozen hard ground (which i prefer....dog owners will know why!) its all wet and muddy again  :(

I thought she'd like it, but it scared her.  In fact, it scared me too.

It was the eyes.  The eyes I tell you.  Cold, unfeeling, watching.  Watching every move.

That was the night before 'The Terrors' came.  And after that night, nothing would ever be the same again.
Spurious pools of water where no pool of water should be.
Erratic 'carrot nose' manifestations.  Sudden urges to sing "Frosty the Snowman" etc.

Please God, melt him, melt him away!
