Title: Discussion about car on ebay
Post by: Witorwitor on 29 May 2009, 20:47:37
Am I allowed to put ebay item number and ask forum members what do they think about the car?

Which section of the forum would be the best to do it?

I would just like to add that because I am a new member of the forum I can't post in "cars for sale & wanted" section...

So I am thinking about getting this one, but listing sounds a bit suspicious to me...
What do you think?

item number: 130308999697

By the way... it is the best forum I have ever joined so far. I ask a question and I got an answer few seconds later ;D ;D

This will be actually my first second hand car and I don't have any experience in buying second hand cars. That's why I started to ask questions on this forum :)

Can you explain me a litle bit why I should pass on that one?

Simply that it doesn't tally with a retail spec and no mention is made of any of it's previous ownership. Also the dash swap wasn't done via a dealership (otherwise it would have been a brand new dash).

Walk away, there's plenty of choice!

Seller doesn't know what car he has, no spoiler which begs the question why? Clocks have been changed never a good sign, it's probably towed quite a bit too with the tow bar on there  :y

O and the price is getting closer to top money.

Discussion about cars on ebay is fine, as long as its not a blatant attempt at advertising your own auctions :)

I don't think so. The car is in Wirral and Albs in essex.
By the way, I got a message from the seller:

car never owned by police. 2 previous owners both named on V5. Car failed mot on windscreen, rear shock absorber and rear tyre, all will obviously be rectified for retest on Monday, advisory on both front tyres. Done HPI check and i can confirm that this vehicle : Vauxhall Omega MV6 auto, registration W826MUY has never been subject of insurance claim or loss of any category, never been stolen / recovered, never been exported or scrapped, never been the subject of a vehicle identity check. I will provide a full reciept at time of sale.

After listening to all advices I have decided to pass on that one but somewhere deep in my head I am afraid that I will miss a bargain...

People keep saying that there is plenty omegas on the market, but I find it really difficult to find a decent elite FL for 1200  :-[ :-/

I just got a message form the seller saying that this is probably not a car for me. I was asking to many questions obviously :) So I will do exactly what everyone suggested:

I will hang in and wait for the right car.

Once again thanks everyone for help. And if you will heard anything about 3.0 elite around please let me know  :)

"The car has just been through its mot therefore all mechanical, and safety issues are fine."

Then......

"Im afraid i spoke in advance about the car passing its mot - i put it in today and found i was wrong about the previously mentioned windscreen crack being ok (it cant be over 40mm in length regardless of where it is), therefore i am currently trying my best to have it replaced asap and the car retested."

What a tool - clearly, initially lied, about having put through an MOT.

Run !!
