Title: Insurance...
Post by: El33t on 31 May 2009, 13:51:27
Who are you with, how old are you (truthfully :P), how much do you pay, what do you drive?

Me, I'm with Tesco, 22 years old, £49 a month TPFT, and my car is on the left.

I'm quite happy with that premium, but it's always fun to be depressed when I found out that my monthly payments are someone else's yearly payments.  ;D

There's no point in me going Fully Comp as I won't even be able to drive other cars until I'm 25!

Yep, those years are bad when it comes to motor insurance.  I was lucky in having company cars from 19 years of age, but before that.......!!!! ::) ::) ::)

There are many other advantages however in being your age ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y :y

A  2.0L Mig estate. Only an online quote though, just wanting an idea.  Had to lie a bit, only for the purpose of a quote as the auto quote would not give me a quote under 17, he is not 17 till Friday. I have since had an email and notice the cheapest quote has gone up to £1018.00.  Going to look for a small car ::) ::)

The Mig is an Auto, had it been a manual would keep it.  :y :y  Need something to teach him in, otherwise his only driving would be in a driving school car.

I am young but have had my fair share of cars already, because I love car shopping.

I've found that large, obscure cars are relatively easy for young people to insure, especially when you have a year of NCB under your belt.

I was paying £152 a month when I was 18 to insure a Rover 214SEi. 104bhp, half leather seats, electric windows and sunroof...and I wasn't the envy of my friends because it was a Rover  ;D ;D.

Vamps - I don't know how important image is to your son. Try getting a quote on a 1.8 Skoda Octavia, and convince him that it isn't an awful car because it's a Skoda. When I was 18, I got a quote on one, no NCB, TPFT for £1400, which was cheaper than the Rover. I just couldn't find one that I could buy!

We're with Footman James on a classic multi-vehicle policy. This covers:-

1954 Morris Minor Traveller
1966 Morris Minor 2 door saloon
1971 Volkswagen Jeans Beetle
1996 Fiesta Courier van
1999 CDX TD saloon

Both SWMBO and I are fully comp, license holders for 20 years and full NCB. All the bells and whistles included on the policy for £443 a year. I know because I've got to go and pay it today ;D

reading through theses posts there seems to be a few of us with similar age/cars/ncb ect.Seems to me the insurance companies just pluck a figure out of thin air...and double it!
