Aren't your numbers saved on your Sim ?. I don't know how the phone has died, but could it be connected to a computer, and possibly you could access it that way ?.

Now hang on, I don't know the model of phone, but its likely that the numbers are saved in an EAROM chip somewhere. It is poss that you can get the phone repaired somewhere, or if it is in a seperate EAROM, they could transplant the chip from an old phone to a new one.

Contradictory but I didnt retire that phone still..now saving the numbers on sim and on papers..
look in the good side you dont have to keep the numbers who dont call you ;D
