Has anyone ever had any experience of http://www.breakdowndirect.co.uk/media/pdf/EuropeanCoverPolicy.pdf these? I know there's an element of you get what you pay for but I've had quotes of between £110 to £140odd with Red Pennant for a fortnight's cover in French France which to me seem extortionate. Green Flag won't cover a caravan over 21' in the UK but they do if you get your cover via the Caravan Club. :-/ :-/ :-?
Or do I just stick a crank sensor in the boot & keep my fingers crossed? ;D ;D :y

I joined the ADAC, £30 for the year, full cover in Europe, including the UK. I can dispense with the RAC.
Its a German company, (their version of the AA) but had no problems with me being a member.

Why not join the caravan club? We did for our extended tour of Europe. The cost of membership was saved on their ferry crossing which was far cheaper than we could get independently. You also get access to a range of member benefits. We consulted them on a technical gas fittings issue from France for example.
You may also find that you get "turned away" from some sites with a long van without a booking. We had problems at Marciac as the guy was convinced we were gypsies. Later that night a chap turned up in a BMW with a twin axle long van and then the next day his extended family appeared in a transit.
Worth investigating other countries offerings.

We are! That's where the Red Pennant comes in! I've just had another look ..... I was right the first time £143 for 15 days cover! :-? No wonder they can offer the cover they do if they charge that much.
I've looked at some the smaller print for AA & RAC they go up to 23' too, mine's 7.05 metres which is a few inches bigger than 23'
I think I'll wing it! ::) ::) ;)

I've used the AA european extension cover previously when I took my Carlton GSi on a euro tour a few years ago. No van on the back but car did pack up - in tank fuel pump... Got recovered to an opel dealership and managed to convince the bloke to get the cheapest option between genuine or pattern pump. Cant recall cost of the cover but it gave us a hire car for a few days at no charge so was happy with what they supplied...
