Title: Our new addition
Post by: Andy B on 05 June 2009, 15:22:44
A new addition was posted here recently.
So here's ours ...... he was abandoned, along with 5 bothers & sisters in a box chucked over a friend of a friend's garden wall!
Awwww! No name as yet!  :y :y

The little man spent all morning on his own today. He literally climbed up me when I got back from work.
We already have 2 cats, a baggy old 18 yrs old tom who spends 23 hrs a day asleeps & wasn't at all interested when introduced, and a 5/6 yrs old she who typically of her, just spat at him and ran off! :-?
No 1 daughter will be home from uni for 3 months on Sunday so will maul him to death keep him company for a while. :y :y

Ditto. Apparently we need a new one.

Can't see what's wrong with the current one. Its' arse is still in perfect working, for one thing, order looking at the state of my bark chippings outside. >:(

I think we'll soon need a new model, seeing as the current one the vet is struggling to control the thyroid. Classed as hyperactive as double what it should be.  Means the lucky little tinker can eat all friggin day long, and still make Tunnie look obese.   I'm not jealous... ...honest ::)

Well done for the rescue Andy :y :y :y :y - there's some sad bastards about - the type who would show no consideration at all to the welfare of small animals.  They usually don't have a responsible bone in their gutless bodies >:(

Sorry if that sounded like a rant - if there's one thing to get me going, it's the mistreatment of animals >:(

Completely agree!
The thing is, whoever dumped them all presumably never even tried to re-home them all. We were told about them yesterday morning, by 5:30 yesterday tea time 4 of the 6 had new homes (inc ours)
Which proves it really isn't difficult to re-home tiny kittens .... if only you get off your 4r$e!!

Well. It looks like this little man will have had a very very short life. We've had a stray tom cat knocking about over the last few weeks and yesterday tea time, as the kitten (Freddie) was eating in the kitchen, SWMBO was there too, the back door was open, the stray has run in and attacked it and started to run off with him.
Freddie was taken straight to the vet & has spent the night there. I've just spoken to the vet and it doesn't look good at all, it appears Freddie has spinal injuries because he can't bear weight on his back legs and possibly head injuries as he still appears to be dopey, nothing like the boisterous kitten he'd been since we collected him last Thursday evening.

From what the vet said, it doesn't look very promising.  :'( My daughter only saw him for a few hours, Sunday evening & yesterday for literally a couple of hours.

RIP Freddie  Died 11th June 2009  5 weeks old
We had the horrible task of putting littel Freddie to sleep this evening. Time was not going to be the healer in his case. What a very short life this little feller had.
I know in the grand scheme of things he was 'only' a cat, but we feel we let him down so badly. He'd only been a member of the family for a few days but had so endered himself.

Really sorry to hear that Andy :'( :'( :'(

At least he had more of a chance with you and your family than so many others out there! :y

That's what really grates with us though ..... although there are many who would have thrown him & his sisters over a fence, how many stray cats would have have ran into a kitchen & severely damaged the back of a very samll kitten? My daughter is distraught as is SWMBO  .... & that not counting me who has cried like a bloody baby too .... big girls blouse! :-?
At least he is now at rest ..... the little man.  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

oh no, so sorry to hear this. Poor little guy.

Theres a tom round here thats not been done. Caused some injurys to our little female. Was touch and go for a while but she pulled through luckily.

I have the vets invoice to "present" to the toms owner if i ever find where it lives. A responsible owner would have a cat neutered. Not much you can do in your case though.:-(

I'd gladly 'do' this 'entire' Tom  .... given the chance, although I think a neighbour would smell a rat if it disappeared now.  ::) That's not to say it might be going 'away' if I have owt to do with it.

I wa presented with a bill from the vets ... but I'm not sure now how much it was ..... a bit immaterial(sp?) now really.  :(

Sorry to hear about your "wee man" at least he had someone who loved him for however short a life and dont feel bad about crying it takes a big man to admit it

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

We haven't checked, but my daughter has already said that she doesn't want another. She might change her mind with time. She was so looking forward to playing with it for the next 4 months summer holidays, but it wasn't to be.  :(
