Title: Some success yesterday
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 15 June 2009, 19:55:54
As many are aware I have been helping to re-fit vac braking to a class 47 loco.

Well yesterday, it ran two trips from Nottingham to Lougborough on a vac braked rake of coaches with a class 25 on the other end.

Very pleasing!

Once they are re-connected and more importantly, have oil in them then yes! (they are rotary vane type pumps so require oil to achieve a gas tight seal)

90A at 110V Dc to!

The setup had been removed during its days on the mainline and in a pretty hap hazard fashion to say the least!

The pipes on the buffer beams were gas axed off, the exhausters removed, most of the 2 inch internal pipe work removed, conctactors messed with and wires disconnected.

The biggest challenge is finding what has been messed with!
