Title: Well - I Have Moved
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 25 June 2009, 20:14:19
Hired a VW Sprinter Van T and took advantage of a few offers of help to relocate.

What  a farce.  Not going into detail in public but I hope I never move again and if I do I will use a profesional remover like I did last time.  Couple of minor breakages but noting to worry about.

Slight agro with BT  and the reconnection charge but sorted fairly easily.

BUT . . . .E-On the Electric rovider is prooving to be a right nightmare.

Seems one of the last 2 to live here changed all the bills to other suppliers.  Hence the BT reconnection (who tried it on for £122.50 reconnection for a 12 month contract) but waived it once I signed for 18 months.

Someone also changed the Gas and Electric to E-On.  As I took on the keys on the 1st of June I rang in the meter reading to Brittish Gas and N-Power whom both said nothing.  I then open a letter to the occupier from E-On demanding £500+.

Seems they last read the meter 3 years ago and have estimated it since.  Seems there was an ols lady that lived here (now in a home at 95) and then someone else.  So seen as they (E-On) have not been paid it seems muggins here has become the target.  They sent round an agent with the idea to execute a warrant of entry etc and now want £1500

Antway, the saga continues and I still dont have an account in my name to pay for the energy I use but yet I can and have proved when I took on the place but they say it is my responsibility to sort it all out.

Not one person I have spoken to (and there have been a few) gives the same advice, they all tell me not to worry.

So I ended the last phone call. "Take me to court, I llok forward to meeting you" ;D ;D

I know the feeling. I had the opposite problem. A year after moving the water company started chasing me via a debt recovery company for the final bill on the previous house. Turns out apparently they sent me the bill, but to the previous address. Surprise, surprise I didn't pay it.

Sorted that out and the debt recovery parasites continued to call. Wouldn't discuss  the case unless I "answered a few questions" first (name, DOB, salary, mortgage, etc. - so nothing personal!). When I told them to break off they told me how this could put me at a disadvantage, etc. err-- nope. See you in court. :P

A year later they start chasing me again and received the same response (FOAD >:(). They appear to have given up now.

Oh, and then there's the alarm company who tried to fleece me for a maintenance contract and then claimed they could come and remove the alarm. Another case of not rather likely.. >:(

.. and all that was after the stress of actually completing the purchase, which was of course a nightmare.

Anyway, try to chill out and enjoy your new home. :y

I am doing Kevin.  Just dumped all the boxes here and left them.  Set up the Phone, Tv , Computer and ADSL, then logged on the OOF to catch up.

Am just in the process of sorting all the stuff out at the old house that I didnt want to take and then in go the builders to put a new kitchen, bathroom and windows ready to put it up for sale. :y  So busyish, then the real work starts, unpacking and settling in. :y

Just a little.  Has not been plain sailing.  Was a late starter with someone from the planning departmentment bot doing thier job right, then delays with the archietect etc. regards some conversion and re-construction work.  All in all took 14 months from started to laying the carpets, and then there was even a problem with one of them (delvery) the night it should have been fiited I went and had my first shower there, and it flooded, when it got stripped it was full of building dust. >:( >:( >:(.  Had I have not spotted the problem and it had got worse then the water may have ended up on the hall carpet if they had been fitted. :-X
