had to put Han Solo down today - he's had loads of problems for the last few years but, being a tough little jack russell, he never gave up.
finally made the decision for him today - unbeknownst to me, the mrs had come to this decision 2 weeks ago - and was waiting for me to say - so it was both our decisions - sad day - but he wasn't going to get any better and i wouldn't see him in pain - which he was the last few days :'(

Sorry to hear about your news, making the decision to have a dog put to sleep is a very hard thing to do but at least he isn't suffering now

I'm very sorry to hear your news bannjaxx.
Responsibility always weighs heaviest at times like this, but it is something which we must face with determination.
He was a grand looking wee dog and I'm sure he was loved by you both and no doubt returned that love ten-fold.
Some decisions, when they are the correct ones, are quite easy to make in the end, as it should be our desire to ensure that the ones we love are never distressed and in pain.
Allow me to express my sympathy to both you and your wife.
