Surely not genuine at that price?

Quality wise they are middle of the road....not the best but, not the worst either....they would be rated better if they had the horizontal bush fitted straight!

No they are NOT genuine Vauxhall ones, they are pattern parts. But they do fit well and have done the job for me on several cars now.

Excellent, that's what I wanted to hear. I knew I wouldn't be getting the best quality at that price, but I can't afford Vauxhall prices at the moment.

Never changed wishbones before, so it'll be a 'learning' experience, but I know there's a guide. Should be interesting!

Just out of interest would you use new bolts each time you do a Wishbone change as mine will need doing soon, and I guess the alignment would need doing afterwards not just tracking.

I managed to do mine using the guide on here and one elsewhere. I ended up removing the old drop link, remove the track rod end too, then once the horizontal bush is out this gives you a fair amount of play in the strut so you can then get the wishbone balljoint out of the knuckle. Once that's done you can then hold the strut towards you and wiggle the wishbone free with it horizontal (the vertical bush won't come out otherwise).
Have yet to see how long they last, but I heard Vx wishbones are about £160 EACH :o

I have to say the rear vertical bush on one of my VSC wishbones failed after 8,000 miles.
Can't fault VSC otherwise have bought a few bits from them, the prices are good and the parts turn up promptly.
I have now replaced the wishbones with ones from buypartsby.co.uk. I'd say the buypartsby wishbones are slightly better made.

I changed mine at 104k, now on 139k, M_DTM reckons they still OK. Mind you, they were genuines, when genuines were £72 retail.....

I've just spoken to Autovaux for a price of the wishbones, and they want £45 each. They're not GM but they are made by the same manufacturer.

yep, kinda like Bosal make OEM exhausts and aftermarket replacements - only the OEM ones tend to be double-skinned, replacements only single skinned ... having said that though, I did replace the track rods on my old miggy with parts from Autovaux and it has to be said that the replacement parts looked identical to the originals (mind you though they themselves could have been replacements I guess !!!)

The trackrod ends from Autovaux are genuine-GM, as I asked when I was enquiring about prices before.

Wishbones are covered under his no quibble 12min/12 miles warranty that goes with each car.
Never had a return yet! ;)

New bolts are NOT required.....

Had the first Omega for about 8 months. Latest one for nearly a year. Both had wishbones immedaietly and both were fine.
Don't need new bolts.
Tracking will need checking.

just one question - when tightening the bolts on the horizontal bush (ie, at the end nearest the front of the car), how are you meant to achieve this with the wheels on the ground if you don't have a pit or 4-poster, 1/2" torque wrenches are pretty long!
is it possible to jack the car, then put an exle stand under the the wishbone (with a block of wood between the two) and then tighten the bolt as the car's weight would then be on the wishbone similar to it being on the ground? :-?

I would nip up as tight as poss on ground, then final torquing back up in air...

You can do that - if you like doing things the hard way. You could also park with one side on a high kerb. Crawl under and tighten, then turn car round and repeat.
Maybe just me, but bloody easy by comparison!

Use ramps, the weight is still on the wheels and the front of the car will be raised about 20cm.

yeah ... did consider that one, but it appears most ramps will take tyres up to about 200mm ... the tyres on 17" facelift alloys are 235's ... ??

The ramps I use are as old as the hills (my dad's had them as far back as I can remember), and they work fine for the Omega with 235/45x17 tyres.
