why do socket manufacturers think we don't need 18mm sockets?!! Grrr!
i have four sets - hitachi, halfords, draper and rolson and there is only one 18mm socket between the lot. and that's a deep one!
what a PITA!! >:( >:( >:(

Could always try a 19mm spanner with a rivet tail to take up the slack ;D

I used to work with a bloke who never had an tools, and so I would be up ontop of a trailer on some step ladders he would be standing on the floor, he needed a 13mm spanner but didn't have one, so I used to hide mine just so I could watch him use a 17mm spanner and a bomb bolt tail to fit perfectly ;D ;D ;D ;D

the shop was shut, and I had to go to work..... definitely next time i'm at Oscotts i'll be buying one!
Just felt the need for a rant before work. thanks for making me laugh now i've come back! ;D
the 18mm was for indeed for caliper but also tie bar, suspension arm.....well spotted
Haven't got to the drop link yet. Who ever said it'd be half off to change the suspension arm has obviously not done one. But at least it ain't an expensive part so i'll go new anyway!
I guess I don't have Snap-on or the like as I was given draper/halfords kits when I had a Mini in my teens. Least they haven't broken but just are missing some bits. Recently bought a cheap rolson kit of allsorts (screwdrivers, spanners, sockets, allens, snips etc) to live in the car for 'just in case'.
The Hitachi sockets came free with an impact driver - that I would highly recommend for taking the arm work out of undoing nuts!! It's not a cheap kit but even that also goes from 17 to 19 :(
Least the 18mm deep one got me through the job so far :y oh and the new tie bar has 19s :y
Should be finished tomorrow! ::)
