John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the planet:
http://zombietime.com/john_holdren/
Please forgive me for putting this link up for a second time, but I first posted it in the Heaven and Earth thread and I think it got overlooked. I believe it is really important to know that Obama has appointed as a science Czar, someone who co-authored such a truly disgusting book.

It's a fact that there are far too many of us & for this reason i believe AIDS was introduced. Mass sterilization & forced obortions are not the answer.
We've pretty much had world peace for over sixty years since the last World War. If we hadn't had the two great wars i wonder what our population would be like & our stance on the situation :-/ :-?

Scary. :o......worse than Mandellson by the sound of it.

Sorry if this offends anyone trying for kids --- but I think that instead of destroying life already created we should stop putting so much effort into creating it in the first place, by artificial means like IVF.
10 - 20 years ago if a couple couldn't have kids they lived with it -- these days they spend thousands on an often futile attempt to procreate and also drain the resources of an over stretched NHS ( in this country).
Mass sterilisations, on one hand looking a good idea, would be a minefield of selection ---- then we get back to the nazi inspired master race engineering dilemmas -- not a good place to be at all!
-
I found this, and I think it's true:
"Manhattan (population 1,634,795) has a square mileage of 22.96, resulting in 71,201 bodies per square mile.
World population is estimated at 6,706,993,152, and the square mileage of Texas is 268,820.
If the entire WORLD lived in Texas, the population density would equal 24,950 people per square mile, or approximately 30% that of Manhattan. Overpopulation is a myth, perpetuated by urban “intellectuals” who could not conceive of anyone living anywhere but New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles etc etc etc."
The other thing you need to remember is that the birthrates for many Western countries (including Russia) is actually falling.

As it tends to do in times of peace and comfort. Contrary to popular opinion --- the biological imperative to breed increases in war and famine -- nature's way of counteracting the losses.

........Although I don't have children I'll take the chance to comment anyway.
There is merit and reason in your statement HC but I suppose this comes down to individual inclination.
The desire to procreate by whatever means necessary isn't easily understood - whether it's a display of self indulgence or of a primeval urge is debateable but such manipulation at this cellular level is bound to have consequences, some perhaps, unintentional :-/ :-/

I like the 'matter of fact' way that you put your arguments Nick. They are presented somewhat as a teacher would present 'facts' to a class of pupils. No matter how hard you try to represent the opposing views, using somewhat extreme examples from obscure websites, as a lunatic fringe, the fact remains that the majority of scientific opinion is on the side of global warming and over-population.
These are not my personal beliefs but, in the interest of balance, they most certainly should be given creedence.
As for AIDS being purposely introduced Pete, well........what can I say against such logic.......it's dumbfounding ;D ;D ;D

very critical and important subject..
I dont agree with his ideas ..
but there is a problem of growing uncontrolled population and starting to destroy our lifes and everything also..
look in this scenario..
a young uneducated couple .. which dont have enough things even for themselves start making babies one after another..(which is actually the case for many countries)
what will happen to those innocent children without food , education and other necessary things..
for those developed countries , govts have some organizations to solve problems but up to a point..
but for other countries..
result is overloaded cities with hungry , jobless , uneducated persons with nothing to loose..
which then will create complete mess..
the lucky ones which can find a job will work for a little money like slaves..
now you wont see any life standard , only unhappy people living the day and searching for some food and money in every possible way.. :-/ :-/ :( :( >:( >:(
-
and I must add also..
you need a driver license to drive a car..
who the hell give you license to make many childrens .. >:( >:(
and how the hell you will feed them and find them homes and jobs >:( >:(

Isn't it the assertions based on the research of scientists that is now being depended upon to 'save' the planet from climate change – should we be worried in that case?
Such expressions of clear conviction are indeed worrying but really the mechanisms already exist by which these lofty desires can be facilitated - namely apathy, self-concern, greed, and of course war.
I don't think that we will have much to worry about in the future as human-kind is quite adept in culling the numbers without really trying.

Not a problem in the UK Cem,we just take 50% of the earnings of the people who work hard to keep their families and give it to the people who dont want to work, they can then live in reasonable comfort and still afford to buy ciggies/booze/drugs etc, the only problem is that there isnt enough left for honest people when they find themselves in genuine need. :y

I am always careful to give links, where possible, to the opinions, statements and data, to use the acronym IMHO (In My Humble Opinion), and to say "I believe something to be true". I don't believe I act like a school teacher. I hope not, anyway. :-/
As for the "majority of scientific opinion being on the side of global warming", I would contest that.
But even if there were a consensus, my views concur with those of Michael Crichton:
"Let's be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world. In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results."

So would I , IMO the reason to believe that the majority of scientists are agreed an AGW is that no atteneion is being paid to those who disagree. Just like the author of "Heavan and Earth" was rejected by mainstream publishers. AGW is the religion of the PC police. Nobody wants to disagree for fear of damaging their reputation, thats why many "celebrities" have also jumped on the band wagon to make themselves look better.

I'd love it if the whole globally warmed, over-populated(plus political correctness and a few other things) bandwagon fell off the road. But I doubt it will.

I found this article very amusingly written:
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YzMzMDBkNzYxOGIyMjQ3ZjJjYjA1NjVjOTg4M2U5M2E=
"...then Mr. and Mrs. Peasant start remodeling the hovel, adding a rec room and indoor plumbing, replacing the emaciated old nag with a Honda Civic and driving to the mall in it, and next thing you know, instead of just having an extra yard of mead every Boxing Day at the local tavern and adding a couple more pustules to the escutcheon with the local trollop, they begin taking vacations in Florida...."
