Title: Flamin' Nora ....
Post by: HolyCount on 13 July 2009, 19:41:18
Took some curtains in to the local cleaners ( that does alterations) to have them taken up. Basically lop 10 inches off the bottom and run a straigh hem along.

They charge £8 a metre  :o :o :o  It's a 2 minute job !!!!

Four 90" curtains ------ £72  :o :o :o  Sheesh ... I'll get a stapler and do it myself !!!!!!!!

Cheaper to get new curtains!

I had a Fleece I liked, nothing special, just a medium quality Tog24 fleece, but a long length and windproof, quite unusual.

Quoted £40-50 to fix the zip.

So it went in the bin  :'(

That is what you can use on lighter curtains, but I have always found with heavier ones nothing beats good stitching with cotton and thread! ;) ;)  And especially if lined :y :y

Doh! I meant to put thread and needle!! :D :D ;)

Yes, Lizzie, I agree. Without wishing to destroy what manly image I might have ... I am the seamstress in thhis household --- but limited to buttons and repairs .... no way am I going to sew these by hand ( don't possess a machine).
